You Only Live Once is a 1937 black-and-white criminal drama directed by Fritz Lang, which tells the story of a couple whose life becomes complete chaos due to their gradual involvement in criminal activities. Eddie Taylor (Henry Fonda) is a former convict who tries to get his life straight by marrying a lawyer's secretary, Joan Graham (Sylvia Sydney). Although Joan realizes that Eddie is trouble, she believes that his love for her will change him for the good and bring them marital happiness. However, when Eddie is framed for a murder, the couple tries to escape the law enforcement and hide until things settle down. During their attempt to avoid prison, Eddie becomes more and more involved in criminal activities, which culminate in a murder. Now Eddie and Joan, just like Bonnie and Clyde, have no choice but to live on the run, trying to maintain the flame of their passion and enjoy their freedom as much as they can.
