Young Guns II is a 1990 western written by John Fusco and directed by Geoff Murphy. The legend of Billy The Kid is given a revisionary update in this sequel to 1988's Young Guns. Young Guns II opens in the 1940s with an elderly man his life story to a young historian. The man claims that he is the famous outlaw, Billy the Kid. The film then flashes back to man telling how he and his band of outlaws attempted to escape the fallout of the events depicted in the first film (The Lincoln County War). The flash back begins soon after the events of the first film and the characters have dispersed. The new governor of New Mexico has issued arrest warrants for everyone involved in the famous range war. The original gang is reunited after they are arrested. They manage to escape from jail and attempt to flee to Mexico. As the viewer follows Billy the Kid's attempts to allude the law, insight is given into the social and political intrigue that led to Billy being branded an outlaw. Young Guns II also features Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Christian Slater and William Petersen.moreless
