Young Lovers is a 1949 romantic drama directed by Ida Lupino. Carol Williams (Sally Forrest) has no doubt in her heart that she will become a huge star. She has an amazing raw talent, natural beauty and the drive to succeed. In her quest to become a famous dancer, she finds a friend in the form of Guy Richards (Keefe Brasselle). He soon becomes not just her choreographer, but also her partner on and off the dance floor. It seems that nothing can stop Carol, until the day she is diagnosed with polio. All her dreams of dancing collapse, leaving Carol feeling terrified. She assumes that Guy will want to break off their engagement, but instead he does something that is even worse in her eyes: he gives up his dancing dreams to become a better provider. Depressed and hopeless, Carol slowly isolates herself from everyone who loves her, preferring to mourn alone. It is uncertain whether the once vivacious dancer is trusting enough to accept a change in life's plans.moreless
