Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman: The Adventures of Zatoichi was released in 1964 and is the ninth installment in the Zatoichi series. The series of twenty six movies is set in Japan in the Edo period, and the story follows a blind gambler and masseur named Zatoichi (Shinato Katsu). Despite his frail and weak appearance, Zatoichi is highly skilled in the art of swordplay and fights to provide justice to the weak and helpless. In The Adventures of Zatoichi, the hero meets a young woman named Saki (Miwa Takada) along his travels whose father has been missing for some time. Zatoichi, with his kind and helpful nature that always leads him into trouble, decides to help the girl. In his search, he stumbles across yet another damsel in distress, named Sen (Eiko Taki), who is looking for her missing brother. Zatoichi faces one his greatest adventures yet as he tries to find the connection between the two disappearances. Meanwhile, a local bandit boss named Jinbei (Kichijiro Ueda) tries everything in his power to get rid of the blind hero.
