David Fincher
Released:
2007
Rating:
R

Zodiac is the 2007 psychological thriller from master suspense filmmaker David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club, The Social Network, Panic Room, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Alien 3), based on an unsolved true story that still mystifies authorities. A mysterious masked figure is terrorizing peaceful 1970s San Francisco, preying on teenagers at lovers' lanes and brutally gunning them down. This terrifying rouge then sends letters boasting of his crimes to various news outfits, effectively establishing a grisly reign of terror that captivates not only the area but the nation. Robert Graysmith (Jake Gyllenhaal, Brokeback Mountain, The Day After Tomorrow) is a cartoonist working at the San Francisco Chronicle, the publication that receives the first Zodiac letter, who gets embroiled in the quest to uncover the attacker's identity along with star reporter Paul Avery (Robert Downey, Jr. Iron Man, Chaplin). On the police side of things, Inspectors David Toschi (Mark Ruffalo, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and Bill Armstrong (Anthony Edwards, Pet Sematary 2, Flipped) are the officers assigned to the ghoulish case.
