Zombie (also known as Dead World) is Richard Kruger's adaptation of the first novel in his own series, The Zombie Chronicles. The film is centered on a young girl named Molly (Molly Kruger) during the opening stages in a global zombie epidemic. Having been left at home with her Grandmother (Emily McKee) as the plague begins, Molly must soon learn to rely upon her own wits and resources as her home comes under assault by the living dead. A homeless man (Shawn Bernadro) living in the wilderness serves as Molly's advisor and protector as the epidemic spreads, teaching her the barest essentials in survival. Fleeing as her few allies and family join the ranks of the unliving, Molly finds within herself determination and the capacity to survive at any cost against the horrific onslaught of the living dead. However, the burden of ongoing horror and survival wears upon her soul, and as Molly learns to cope in this horrifying new world she may lose her humanity in the process.
