Zoolander is a 2001 comedy directed and co-written by Ben Stiller. Male supermodel Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) is forced to retire from modeling after being defeated by hot newcomer Hansel (Owen Wilson) in the annual "Male Model of the Year" competition. Soon afterwards, Zoolander's friends disappear, and his father expresses his disappointment. Zoolander's world gets turned upside down, and he no longer feels that he is a good model. Zoolander begins to search for a new meaning for his life. Jacobim Mugatu (Will Ferrell), a fashion designer mogul, hires Zoolander for his new "Derelicte" line. Zoolander thinks his career is back on an upswing. However, Mugatu has evil intentions and plans to use Zoolander to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Mugatu gets Zoolander to accept the assignment by brainwashing him at his day spa. Matilda Jeffries (Christine Taylor), a journalist, feels partly responsible for Zoolander's retirement, suspects that something is wrong. Matilda makes Zoolander aware of the brainwashing and together they must come up with a plan to stop Mugatu's evil plot.
