Zorro, the Gay Blade is a movie that gives the legend of Zorro a comedic twist. When Diego Vega's (George Hamilton) father dies, not only does he inherit the land, he also inherits the costume and sword of Zorro. He decides to wear the disguise to a costume ball and on the way there, he saves a peasant being robbed. He tells the peasant to spread the word that Zorro is back. Later that evening, Don Diego breaks his foot and realizes that he cannot fight the tyranny of the Alcalde, his childhood friend Esteban (Ron Leibman) who is over-taxing the peasants. Enter Don Diego's twin brother Ramon (George Hamilton). Currently going by the name of Bunny Wigglesworth, Ramon agrees to take his brother's place as Zorro as long as he can wear colorful versions of the costume and use a whip instead of the sword. Hilarity ensues as the "Gay Blade" heroically fights for the people of his country.
