DVD News
My Hero series one DVD will apparently be released in the US and Canada on January 16, 2007. Whether this actually occurs, remains to be seen; we've been toyed with before. (If anyone would like a cheaper (legal) source for it, PM me. I don't think I'm allowed to advertise another site.)
Unfortunately, the home team is not so graced. I've checked two major UK sites, and still only series three is available. No series are currently available in Australia. Should this change, I'll post again.

Let the Mourning Commence: My Hero Cancellation Official
Based on dismal ratings and poor response to James Dreyfus as the new Thermoman, BBC One has passed on a seventh series. The final episode didn't rise high enough in the ratings to even be measured - aided no doubt by the last minute scheduling change - furthering the knell of doom. American audiences still have series six to look forward to (some PBS stations have apparently begun transmitting these), but after that there's only a distant hope in creator Paul Mendelson's eye that the show may be "reformatted". Whether that means translation into animation, or some other medium, is anyone's guess.
A somewhat tarnished silver lining to this cloud is maybe this will spur the rest of the series (currently, only series three is available in the UK) to finally be made available to both national and international audiences.

Series Six Finale has been Moved to Sunday 10 September 2006
BBC One, in its infinite wisdom, has moved the series finale from Friday night to Sunday evening at 6.20. Still no official word from BBC on the show's fate, but, as John Stroud predicted, the ratings did improve with Big Brother's absence from the competing time slot on BBC Four.

Future of My Hero Unsure
Ratings for the somewhat beleaguered show have been up and down since the Thermoman changeover, and there has been no official word from BBC One. In a fan site interview at downthetubes.net, John Stroud is obviously hoping the ratings will rise now that Big Brother has completed its run. With only two episodes left in this series, however, he may need something along the lines of a miracle. He has stated he believes BBC's phrasing indicates only that it is the final episode of the series, not the show.
