Randy: These guys are so smart, Earl, they figured out how to put booze in food. 'Cept you can't eat too many or you pass out and they write "balls" on you forehead in permanent marker. (edit)
Earl: (voiceover) An amazing thing happened after class. We just kept walking and talking and we never ran out of stuff to say. It was like one of those movies where a guy meets a girl and they talk and laugh at each other's stories. I usually don't watch movies like that but I was starting to understand why people do. (edit)
Earl: Randy, I think she likes me; she asked me to go to a party. And we talked and we joked around; she even touched my arm.
Randy: Really, how'd she do that?
(Earl strokes Randy's forearm)
Randy: It feels like she likes you.
Earl: That's what I'm saying.
Randy: Does this mean we're going to stay another night?
(Earl strokes Randy's forearm again)
Earl: Would you walk away from that?
Randy: No way. I even like when you do it. (edit)
Phi Alpha Brother: Assume the positions.
(Pledges turn around and bend over.)
Randy: You want me to bend over so you can smack me with that paddle?
Brother: Yeah.
Randy: I like drinkin' and I love ridin' tricycles, but if someone hits me with a paddle I'm gonna knock 'em on their ass. I thought we were friends.
Brother: We are. But... the older brothers did it to us when we were pledges so now it's our turn to torture somebody.
Randy: If you want to get someone back why don't you paddle the guy who paddled you? Not some poor guys who didn't do anything to anyone.
(Brothers start paddling each other as Randy and the other pledges watch.)
Earl: (voiceover) Randy never thought he'd be so satisfied watching guys spank each other on the ass. But, as it turns out, he was. (edit)
Waiter: Shrimp Kebab?
Earl: Yeah, how much for two?
Waiter: They're free.
Earl: Free shrimp, huh? College. (edit)

Trivia

add »
Where's Poncho? Aquarium is one of the default screensavers offered on Windows XP, but it does not feature Poncho.
Background logo: When Randy uses the computer, it jumps to an actual Windows screen with a background resembling HP's logo, "Blue Sonic". Password needed or not? Later on, Randy complains about needing a password to see what was on the computer, even though it immediately jumped to a regular Windows screen before.
Good batteries: At no time in the episode was the laptop ever plugged in for a recharge. That could be weeks or months, considering it was on Earl's list. (edit)
Featured Music:
"Louie, Louie" by The Kingsmen
"Teach Your Children" by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
"Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Öyster Cult
"Hooch" by Everything (edit)
Earl's address as shown on the postcard:

Earl Hickey
The Palms Hotel Room #231
9005 Lincoln Blvd.
Camden USA (edit)
List Trivia:

Introduced and crossed off in this episode
#37 Stole laptop.
#263 (new) Broke bus stop while looking for Poncho the blue fish. (edit)

Bullwinkle J. Moose

Earl: "Frostburg State University." Isn't that where Bullwinkle went to college?
Randy: Went to Wossamotta U. Lived in Frostbite Falls.

A reference to Bullwinkle J. Moose, one half (along with Rocket J. Squirrel) of the famous cartoon duo Bullwinkle and Rocky. As Randy stated, Bullwinkle was a graduate of Wossamotta University and a resident of Frostbite Falls, Minnesota. (edit)
Randy: These guys are so smart, Earl, they figured out how to put booze in food. 'Cept you can't eat too many or you pass out and they write "balls" on you forehead in permanent marker.

This is a reference to the 2004 movie Garden State, where a similar thing happens near the start of the movie. (edit)
When Earl is at the frat house and the bottle rocket whizzes by him, the frat brother calls him "Magnum P.I."

This is in reference to Jason Lee's comments that his now infamous " 'stache" had overtaken Tom Selleck's as the "best" in TV history. (edit)
Randy: This is cool, like when that hobbit Rudy walked on campus for the first time

This is in reference to the 1993 film Rudy. This was a based on a true story movie starring Sean Astin where his dream was to play for the Notre Dame football team. Sean Astin later played the Hobbit Sam Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. (edit)
