This episode was riffed again in season 3 as experiment #302.
(edit)
Joel watches and riffs the movie alone in this episode. Crow isn't in the theater because he has been frozen as a Christmas tree. Servo's absence from the theater is not explained.
(edit)
Gypsy: (after Joel explains Christmas and Hannukah to her) Hannukah, Christmas, you be the judge.
(edit)
Joel: (as Gamera moves toward the volcano) No giant turtle can resist the rich taste of lava. In quarts and quarts, straight out of the volcano.

(during the credits roll in segment one)
Servo: What's a puppet operator, Joel?
Joel: Uh, it's nothing, really. (edit) (over a shot of the New York City skyline)
Joel: It could be any town. (switch to shot of wall that says, 'New York News Studio') Well, maybe not. (edit) General: Calling fighter planes, answer! Calling fighter planes, answer! Calling fighter planes, answer!
Joel: All right, I'm a fighter plane! (edit)

Joel claims he raided the movie library and found the original Gamera movie, indicating that he picked the movies. This is before Dr. Forrester and Dr. Erhardt showed up.
