After the three ninjas take their leave, Sasuke realizes he has a powerful rival out there. The next day, Kakashi announces that he has recommended all of them for the Chuunin Exams. While Naruto and Sasuke are pleased, Sakura is afraid of letting everyone down. Also, someone decides they aren't ready and decides to test their abilities.

As the episode begins, Gaara and Sasuke learn each others names and where each is from. Naruto continues to make a fool of himself and becomes even more jealous of Sasuke. Meanwhile the Third Hokage has asked who will allow their students to take the Chunin Exam. The three jounin trainers (Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai) have recommended all nine of their rookie genin for the exam. Iruka thinks that they are making a mistake in allowing their students to take the exam. He wants proof that they can handle it. Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke all face different tests to see if they can handle the exam.
When Kakashi enlists Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto for the Chunin exams Iruka doesn't think that they are ready to take it. Iruka proves himself wrong by using a few tricks individually on Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto. I thought it was interesting how Iruka was in process of seeing if Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto were ready for taking the Chunin Exams. When Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto are turning in their applications and Sasuke was explaining the genjutsu and was about to fight with the person that didn't want to let him in was a great part of the episode. I liked this episode because of all of the jutsu and tricks.

The Chunnin Exam saga begins. hide show
Okay, it started out with Gaara telling Kankuro that he should attack little kids. Kankuro said that she was the one who started this mess. He told him to shut up or he'll kill him. Sakura told them that they should enter another's village without permission. The sand villages told her that they have passes for the Chunnin exams. In the Hokage's office, the Hokage told the Jonins who to nominate for the Chunnin exams. The Jonins nominate all the 9 rookies. Iruka argued that they're not ready to go and they'll by killed. He did a little test on the 9 rookies. He disgues himself as a Rain Ninja and attack them. They all past. They rpove Iruka that they aren't rookies anymore. So let the Chunnin exams begin.
This episode was superb. hide show
This was one of my favorite episodes that didn't really have any fighting in it. I really loved it when Iruka tested Sakura, because at first I thought she was going to like really cry but she's real tough cuz she stood up for herself and saw through the genjutsu. One thing that could've been better though is that they should've shown all of the rookie nine's tests with Iruka, I would really want to see Hinata's. They also could've shown more of Sasuke's, but I think they wanted to do like testing Naruto's ninjutsu, Sakura's genjutsu, and Sasuke's taijutsu. Like they could've done that with teach squad, maybe not. So it was a superb episode.
