General Submission Guidelines I do not like to reject submissions. That doesn't mean that I won't, but I prefer that you contact me before making a submission if you are unsure about something or if something is unclear. Grammar Please make sure that all submissions are in complete sentences and are grammatically correct. If there is some small error, I will change it, accept the submission, and let you know what I changed about it. If there are numerous errors, I will reject the submission and let you know why. One thing I've seen quite frequently in people guides is that English sentences are missing the subject. I understand that stating the subject is not mandatory in Romance languages, but it is mandatory in the English language. Please be sure you do that. Formatting I follow the formatting standards on the site. This means that the colon for a quote goes outside the strong tag. Usually, I will change this and add a note asking that you do it this way in the future, but if you submit a lot of things that are this way, I will reject them. I try to add comments to for all processed submissions, but I might only comment on the first few, depending how many there are with the same error. Even though the submission form instructions explain how to use html tags, I ask that you use xhtml instead. Plagiarism I won't accept plagiarized material. I will reject it and give you the opportunity to resubmit it in your own words. Comments Box Please do not use this section to tell me how annoyed you are that a piece of information in the guide is incorrect, how much you love the actor, how hot the actor is, or give me your personal opinion of a quote. This section should be used for the source of your information and/or what the submission is. Similarly, your submission does not belong in this section. It's fine to put a short submission there as long as it is also in the submission area, but please do not paste a recap in this area. If your submission is not in the submission area, I will reject it and explain why. Sources Please provide a verifiable source for all information that did not come from watching a show. In other words, if you watched the show and wrote a recap, I do not need a source. If you are adding trivia or notes to a show, or adding information to a person guide, I need a source so I can verify the validity of the information. If I am unable to verify the information, I will reject the submission and explain why. Links No outside links are permitted per tv.com, so please do not use them. I do like to use links to the guides here. The following are the way I prefer to format them. Show title : link and bold Episode title : link and italics Film title : italics and bold Book title : italics Person's name : link Quotes All quotes should follow the tv.com standard formatting. In addition to that, I have two other preferences. Real person : first and last name Character/in show : shortest name possible that will still identify the character Trusted Contributor I allow trusted contributors, but I decide this based on your submission history to the guide. If you make valid and quality contributions, then I will probably make you a TC. Please do not make one submission, ask me to accept it, and then ask me if you can be a TC. If you've made a large enough number of valid and quality contributions to become a TC and I haven't offered it, feel free to ask, but please do not be offended if I do not make you one. I will let you know why. PMs Please check all your PMs. I usually add comments to submissions I accept as well as the ones I reject. Show Submission Guidelines There is no substitution for watching the show. Please do not copy quotes, notes, summaries, or recaps from another site and submit them. Often, these have errors. Allusions An allusion is an implied or indirect reference especially in literature. If a direct reference to something is made, it does not belong here. It belongs in the trivia section instead. Allusion Example Booth: What, you want me to spit in my hand? We're Scully and Mulder. Booth is referring to Fox's show, The X-Files with another FBI female and male partnership. Notes This section is for all production notes. That means that it should not contain information concerning on screen events. An appropriate submission for this area might be a note about an actor being injured while filming a particular scene. Trivia This section is for any on screen action that might or might not have been noticed by a viewer. Similarly, a direct reference to something would go in this section. At times, there is confusion between this area and the allusion section. The example below is not an allusion as it makes a direct reference to something external to the show in which it was mentioned. It should be in the trivia section. Trivia Example Hodgins : You ask it to take out the garbage and it watches reruns of Firefly . Firefly was a short lived Sci-Fi show created by Joss Whedon and aired on the Fox network. Quotes This section is for direct quotes. Please do not submit quotes from other sites as they may contain errors. Quotes should be formatted according to tv.com guidelines. Please make sure that all descriptive text is italicized, in parentheses and precedes the colon. The italics tags should be outside the parentheses. Quote Example McCall (referring to the unmarked police car) : This thing looks almost new! I don't know, Hunter, maybe I'd better drive. Hunter: Don't start, okay? There's nothing wrong with my driving. It's the bad guys that drive bad. Please be sure to check the "More" link as there might be more items there than you see. Person Submission Guidelines The same formatting applies here as apply to the show guide submissions. There are a couple of things that I do a little differently, though. I like to use the person's first name for all trivia submissions. Initially, Sean was hesitant to accept a role on the Firefly series because he was not interested in working on a Science Fiction project. I also like to use the person's full name for quotes. Sean Maher (about Joss Whedon) : He's one of the most amazing people I've ever met in my life. He's a genius. ~ Special Notes If you make changes to production codes or submit production codes that are not there, please make sure you provide a verifiable source for them. I will reject the submissions if I am not able to verify the validity of the codes. Please read these links for additional guideline and formatting information.
