2 Broke Girls Cashes In With a Full-Season Pickup

CBS has made its first decision of the fall, picking up comedy 2 Broke Girls for a full season. This is hardly a surprise, given that the show has been the network's best new performer and has settled in quite nicely on Mondays next to the resurgent Two and a Half Men.

2 Broke Girls' most recent episode, which aired Monday, drew 11.42 million viewers and notched a hefty 4.5 rating, the latter figure being the important one for CBS as the network tries to bring in younger viewers. And one way to do that is to throw Kat Dennings on-screen in strategically unbuttoned waitress outfits.

So far, there have been four pickups at the major networks, and all of them are half-hour comedies: 2 Broke Girls joins Fox's New Girl and NBC's Whitney and Up All Night in the "We'll Be Here All Season" club. All four shows are comedies with female leads and female target audiences. And two of them are Whitney Cummings projects: She's the star of Whitney and the creator of 2 Broke Girls.

To date, the only show that's been canceled is NBC's The Playboy Club, which got the axe yesterday after three episodes.

We thought 2 Broke Girls was okay—for a predictable comedy cluttered with a laugh track. What do you think?

The show is outperforming it's lead in. Whenever a TV Show can do that, It's a Keeper.

Good for Everyone on the show.

This is the last episode I'm gonna watch. If it sucks as much as the last 2 episodes I'm done with this show.

Lets see, you take 1 Tough Born-Poor Girl + 1 Naive Born-Rich Girl = 2 Broke Girls.

One Makes Cupcakes and the other Makes Plans. So the set up is stupid, then you add in a horse. Really? What are the writers thinking? Why isn't PETA picketing the show? 2 broke girls with a horse living in the backyard of their apartment building in the city? Stupid. How did this show even make it to a pilot?

I don't watch 2 Broke Girls for her boobs. I haven't even notice them really at all, I watch the show because I like her dry humor and the constant put downs on the co-star and chestnut. Chestnut is the best.

Funny show...for me one of the funniest new shows.

Gave up on Up All Night, its painful to see such great actors in such boring show.

Gave up on New Girl, zooey's character it is so irritating.

Still haven't seen Whitney, I may start it next weekend.

2 Broke Girls is not one of the funniest new shows. You are very, very wrong. Be warned watching Whitney might give you cancer.

The third episode was better than the first two. The second season of the episode was pretty bad. The horse crap thing was just really bad. It didn't even look like horse crap! It looked like human diarrhea!

What happened to the other 2-project woman - namely, Chelsea Handler? Did her shows not get green-lighted?

Yes now we need to make sure this series gets a season 2 because its funny and intertaining

I find the show quite annoying but at the same time I kind of care about the characters?!? I know, I know, it doesn't make any sense, I'm an idiot, but still, I have a feeling I'll be watching all of this series. (For the record, this time it's not about Kat Dennings breasts.)

Gave up on Whitney after the pilot, it was f*cking terrible.

Gave up on Up All Night after two episodes, it was pathetic.

Gave up on New Girl after three episodes and then they anounce Lizzy Caplan will be on, so now I'll be watching until she is no longer on.

Didn't like it. The laugh track pretty much put me off. The blonde is irritating (she's supposed to be irritating, right?) Was mostly the laugh track that did it for me. Ah well.

dude you would not know a funny show even if it bit you on the ass if you cant get the jokes then you should stick to shows you understand more to your taste like playschool

It is just a marginal show at best! And her boobs are not that great, unless nothing else matter!!!!! She is a bit big in other areas also!!!!!!

I HATE LAUGH TRACKS.

can someone explain why they continue to use them???

Chestnut the horse in the back yard sold me on the show, that they didn't just ignore him in future episodes helped too.

The jokes are pretty good (kudos to Whitney), buuuuut----Ok, I know that probably most guys are not noticing because of the big boob distraction (me too), but I'm sorry, I just think Kat is just phoning it in. Do you notice (again guys probably not so much) that when Kat says her lines, she NEVER looks at the character she is supposed to be talking to? I don't think she even know what her co-stars even look like or would even be able to pick them out of a line-up! I know her character is supposed to be a self-absorbed, apathetic, misanthrope but geez, narcissize much? *Unless Kat, you have that "wandering eye" or a glass eye or something, and if that is the case, I am so sorry and PLEASE don't hold it against me, unless it is your boobs and if so, that is TOTALLY OK!!

Kat Dennings on my tv every week, I'll take it.

I don't think it's very creative, interesting, or funny at all. That being said, it's on CBS and people watched it, so I wasn't surprised to hear about the full season pick-up. Note that you didn't see it on my Dead Pool listing.

I don't think it's very funny. It's pretty stupid humor. I'm surprised it got a full season.

I don't think the show is that good (I normally like Kat, but I really don't find her funny here), but I figured it would get a full season pick up.

I approve. 2 Broke Girls is fun/funny.

I will not watch a show with a laugh track. And after about 30 seconds I was done with Whitney, even though I think she's a great comedian.

Guess if you grew up a few years ago, you wouldn't watch any comedies, cos' they all had laugh tracks. Viewers loved those shows as they were tv comedy classics. We're so spoiled nowadays. Fine, don't watch Whitney. A lot of people will, like me, cos' it's the funniest new comedy not just this year, but in many years!

Love the show, very funny (I'm not dead inside yet, I can still enjoy a good laugh). Too bad that only casual shows with no major stories arcs are getting picked up so far.

Yay... Comedy Wins and Drama Loses, On the 4 Local Channels of NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox. Wow! Now, i know the very target now on for sure. Don't get involved with any drama programming at all. And watch just Sitcoms programming instead, they seem to last longer than anything.

Good. I really like this show. It's so much better than New girl or Up all night.

For the record, that's not a laugh track; it's taped in front of a live audience.

When I read all the "laugh track" nonsense after the 1st episode I knew it was wrong and I guess it got back to the show. If anyone noticed when the announcement about "Whitney is taped in front of a live audience" was played at the beginning of the 2nd episode she quickly throws in with a "You heard me!", anyone else notice?

My feelings are mixed on this one. Though I find the concept interesting, the way more quantity of poor jokes than great ones makes me wonder sometimes... I guess I'll keep watching it if I have time to kill.

2 Broke Girls, and New Girl for that matter, is way funnier than NBC's Whitney and Up All Night, two shows which were promoted to death and actually don't deserve a full season. I hate CBS' other shows but I'm a huge fan of their Monday night lineup, except for Two And A Half Men, so I'm glad 2 Broke Girls got picked up full season, it's gotten funnier each week. Now it just has to be picked up for a 2nd season in the coming months.

Everyone's sense of humor is different. I haven't had a chuckle in 3 weeks of New Girl, but Whitney really cracks me up. To each their own, I say.

and PARFUMED up the set!!

It's not the worst show out there (yeah, I'm looking at you Whitney). It made the left corner of my mouth rise a few times. But at the same time TV audiences deserve something much better. So if anyone comes up with a better show (which shouldn't be difficult), please replace this one. In light of the ratings, the full-season pick up was of course understandable.

Ok, ok. a lot of people who post here hate Whitney, but lots of people that don't post here obviously do, cos' they think it's funny. I think it's funny too. No..it's hilarious. The funniest new comedy in ages. Funnier than Community, Parks & Recreation and even Modern Family. No laughs in any of those shows, not for me. Yay, Whitney!
