New Shows Picked Up

20 Good Years
This new comedy from the cocreator of The Cosby Show follows the adventures of two friends who finally realize that life doesn't last forever. John Lowry and Stanley Friedman are an odd pair to be buddies. They're polar opposites in every way and have a hard time seeing eye to eye. The one thing they can agree on is that they only have 20 good years left to live. In their moment of enlightenment, both men vow to live each day as if it is their last, despite what anyone thinks. It's age meets anarchy, and there will be no regrets. (Source: NBC press release)

30 Rock
Saturday Night Live's own Tina Fey stars as Liz Lemon, head writer of fictional television series The Girly Show. With ratings to win, finicky stars to wrangle, and a new and very difficult boss, Liz finds her hands more than full. Can she keep a grip on all her responsibilities and helm a successful TV show without losing her mind?

Andy Barker, P.I.(to premiere midseason)
Andy Barker is a CPA who has never failed at anything--that is, until his new accounting business doesn't take off as planned. When he's mistaken for the private detective who used to occupy his office, Andy embraces this twist of fate and takes the case. Thus begins his journey back and forth from Andy Barker, CPA to Andy Barker, P.I. Whether chiding criminals headquartered in a warehouse--for renting instead of buying--or briefing an accounting client about municipal bonds while driving backward down an alley while being pursued by Sri Lankan gangsters, Andy will always be a problem solver and a number cruncher. America's Got Talent (to premiere midseason)
Simon Cowell and NBC are scouring the country in search of the most talented person in America.

The Black Donnellys

Friday Night Lights
Friday Night Lights focuses on the high school football program in the small town of Dillon, Texas. This year, the Dillon Panthers are expected to go all the way. That's a lot of pressure for Eric Taylor in his first year as coach. Nevertheless, he's ready and willing to mold these boys into champions and encourage them to be better men. Brought to you by Peter Berg and Brian Grazer, this family drama is all about achievement, heartache, friendship and tough love. (Source: NBC press release)

Heroes
They thought they were like everyone else...until they woke with incredible powers. In Japan, a lowly office worker can teleport at will. In New York, a struggling artist can paint the future. In Los Angeles, a discontented beat cop can hear the thoughts of others. Heroes chronicles the lives of these people, and others like them, whose destinies just might be the saving of humankind...but first they must come to grips with their newfound powers. This original, edge-of-your-seat thriller will make you wonder if there really are heroes among us. (Source: NBC press release)

Kidnapped
Kidnapped is a high-stakes serialized thriller in which the teenage son of a wealthy Upper East Side family (Timothy Hutton, Kinsey, and Emmy winner Dana Delany, China Beach) is kidnapped and everyone is a suspect. The series focuses on the elaborate, interlocking game between the kidnappers, law enforcement, the FBI, and the private negotiating team of the "perhaps" not-so-picture-perfect family. (Source: NBC press release)

Raines(to premiere midseason)
Los Angeles. Present day. Michael Raines, an eccentric but brilliant cop, solves murders in a very unusual way--he turns the victims into his partners. These visions are figments of Raines's imagination, and he knows it, but when he can't make the dead disappear, he works with them to find the killer. He talks to them. He profiles them. And he's only free of them when the case is closed. Other detectives question Raines's sanity. So does he, but he is unable to stop the visions from coming, and a small part of him is glad he can't, because there is one recurring hallucination he can't live without. (Source: NBC press release)

The Singles Table(to premiere midseason)
They say the best place to meet someone is at a wedding. That couldn't be truer for Stephanie, Ivan, Eli, Adam, and Georgia. Because of their single status--and a tenuous relationship with the bride and groom--they are all seated at Table 18, in a far corner of the wedding hall, next to the kitchen. Through the course of the reception, each person questions his or her life and vows to make a better go at it. It's more than a bonding experience. For richer or poorer, these five kindred spirits will grow to become friends and, in some cases, lovers. (Source: NBC press release)

New Shows Picked Up

Betty the Ugly
In the superficial world of high fashion, image is everything. Styles come and go, and the only constants are the wafer-thin beauties who wear it. Where could a girl who is less than pretty and a little bit pudgy possibly fit in? If you knew Betty Suarez, you'd see how sweet, intelligent, and hard-working she is. Few people ever get to know her, though, because in the world of fashion, Betty is the oversized square peg in the petite round hole. But finally, her looks and lack of fashion sense are going to be an asset. When publishing mogul Bradford Meade hands the reins of his fashion magazine, Gloss, over to his son Daniel, he specifically hires Betty as his son's new assistant--mostly because she's the only woman in NYC who Daniel won't sleep with. Repulsed at first, Betty will win him over with her efficiency. Neither of them really knows the ins and outs of the fashion world, but the two of them are a formidable team against the label-wearing sharks who will do anything to see them fail. That includes many couture coworkers with botoxed smiles on their faces and knives behind their Galliano-clad backs. (Source: ABC press release)

Big Day
Weddings involve months and months of meticulous planning, from the venue to the dress, the caterer to the flowers. All of this care and attention to detail are over in a single day. Meet Danny and Alice. A Day in the Life breaks down their wedding day in to 22 individual episodes chronicling every little thing that can an will go wrong.

Brothers & Sisters
As kids, brothers and sisters share many laughs, work through many arguments and form many bonds. As adults the same rules apply but it gets a lot more complicated when they've all grown into very different people...united by a gene pool. The adult children of Henry March, along with their respective families, have gathered to celebrate a birthday. What they don't know is that tonight the patriarch will die. With this safety net gone, everyone will be forced to face the reality of their lives. Set in Los Angeles, this multigenerational family works to balance their personal lives with the family business, their siblings, and a grieving mother. (Source: ABC press release)

Day Break
Today, Detective Brett Hopper will be accused of shooting state attorney Emilio Garza. He will offer a rock-solid alibi. He will realize he's been framed. And he will run. Then he will wake up and start the day over again. This time he'll do it differently--and will continue to--until he finds out who's framing him, gets his gang witness to court to testify, and saves the lives of his loved ones. (Source: ABC press release)

Greg Behrendt's Wake-Up Call
Greg Behrendt, acclaimed author of He _ s Just Not That Into You, will address one couple _ s major issues and use his knowledge of relationships to give them the tools to fix theirs. Through his off-the-cuff comedy and bruised-and-battered romantic experience, Greg takes a close look from a different angle to give our couple advice as a close friend, but also that of sage wisdom. (Source: ABC press release)

Help Me Help You
Whoever came up with the horrible idea of group therapy? Take a bunch of people who are all really messed up in different ways, and put them in a room together to try and help each other out. Yeah...that's a great idea. No conflicts there. Just a bunch of crazy, self-obsessed strangers workin' it out. And if that isn't bad enough, Dr. Bill Hoffman (Ted Danson) is probably the craziest and most self-obsessed of all--but his patients would never know it, because he hides behind his very respectable celebrity image as a best-selling author of phenomenally successful self-help books. (Source: ABC press release)

In Case of Emergency
It's the line on any medical form or job application that most of us take for granted: Who should we contact in case of emergency? We don't even think twice about it as we fill in the name of our spouse, our parents, our sibling, our best friend. But what if you had no one? What if you looked at that question and struggled to come up with one single person that you could contact if there was a real emergency? Today is a turning point for three high school buddies who find themselves in places they never would have expected, and learn that in one day they can start with no one to count on, but can finish being able to count on each other. It's a good thing they've all finally got someone to call, because their troubles are just beginning. (Source: ABC press release)

Just for Laughs
ABC has licensed six half-hour episodes of the hidden-camera comedy series. The series cuts across cultural boundaries and has universal appeal, entertaining audiences of all ages and demographics by mixing clever practical jokes, hidden cameras and a few unsuspecting victims. Men in Trees
Finding a good man in today's world isn't as difficult as some women think. You just have to watch out for the signs. You wouldn't drive with a blindfold on, but for some reason, women continue to date with one. Relationship coach Marin Frist knows what to look for, what to avoid, and what will make women happy. As the many fans of her two best-selling books could tell you, we're all in charge of our own happiness. Marin's personal happiness includes the upcoming wedding to her "perfect man." But like many people full of advice, Marin fails to apply it to herself. On her way to a speaking engagement in Alaska she learns that her fianc§Û has cheated on her. The wedding plans are instantly over. Slapped in the face with personal failure, she's now snowed in and stuck in a small town full of the one thing she really doesn't need: available men. Marin's friends and publisher try to lend long-distance support, but the fact remains: Marin's been living with her eyes closed for too long. Now that they're finally open, she sees the amazingly beautiful world surrounding her, and, for the first time, she'll have the chance to stop and breathe. If she could just get the raccoon out of her hotel room, this place might be perfect. (Source: ABC press release)

The Nine
So much in life is beyond your control. One day you wake up and go to work as usual. The next, a random moment, an accident, a blessing, even a stranger, comes from out of the blue and redirects your life forever. But it's up to you to decide if that moment will stop you in your tracks or lift you up to new heights. Today nine people face just such an unexpected twist when they are caught in a bank robbery gone wrong and endure a 52-hour hostage standoff that will leave one person dead. When all is said and done, these nine people will never be the same. They will always share the common bond of what happened inside the bank...which only they'll know. And they will be forever affected and intertwined because of it. This is a dramatic character study that will keep audiences hooked from the beginning of the bank robbery to the end of the hostage standoff. Taking a twist from Lost, each episode will begin with a flashback to reveal another 10 minutes of the hostage crisis, uncovering why and how these nine strangers are still linked today. Notes From the Underbelly
Everyone knows that when you have a baby your life changes, but no one points out that the very first way that it changes is that you have to lie to everyone you know for the first three months until it's safe to tell people. Andrew and Lauren have just found out they're going to be having a baby, and they're having a slightly difficult time following rule number one: keeping it secret. Suddenly switching to decaf, becoming a teetotaler at cocktail parties, going to the OB/GYN...hard stuff to keep from family and close friends. Well, Andrew and Lauren are about to learn that when the secret gets out, the politics of parenthood can be just as demanding as raising the child. Sometimes all that "help" from loving but intrusive parents and "advice" from well-meaning but competitive friends who are trying to show you what great parents they already are is not exactly what you're looking for. Knowing what's best for the child could be the easiest part...maintaining your relationships with family and friends can be the real challenge. (Source: ABC press release)

Set for the Rest of Your Life
Just imagine: You're leaving the studio financially independent with a monthly payment for as long as you live! Yes, even if you are to live another 100 years. With a big smile on your face, you will be cashing a monthly check for the rest of your life. Now how does that sound? In this high-tension game show, the contestant will first battle for the highest monthly check possible. Does he end up with $50 a month? $500 a month? Or will he receive well over $10,000 a month? The contestant's next battle is even more important: Time! Does he win that payment just for one month? For a quarter of a year, half a year, one year? For three, ten, twenty years maybe? Or for the rest of his life? And did the contestant's partner, hidden in a sound-proof isolation booth away from where it's all happening, help to make that dream come true or turn that dream into a nightmare? Set for the Rest of Your Life is a game show for strong relationships only, that's for sure! (Source: ABC press release)

Six Degrees
It's said that six people separate any one person from another. Considering the millions of people in the United States alone, it's an amazing thought that we're connected to anyone and everyone by a chain of six. Laura, a grieving single mother, begins the chain. Then to Whitney, the self-made success story who thinks her boyfriend is cheating. Move on to Steven, the artist/photographer who believes he's lost his "eye." Follow with Damien, who can't escape his criminal brother's shadow. Then to Mae, the girl with a dangerous past she's hiding from. And finally to Carlos, the good guy with a crush who doesn't know what he's in for. These six strangers are going about their normal lives but not realizing the impact they're having on each other--yet. It's a mysterious web of seeming coincidence and happenstance that draws these people closer to those who will change their lives forever. Even decisions made freely will seem part of a larger design, begging the question of if there is a greater force at work in our world, guiding us along and connecting our lives. (Source: ABC press release)

Summer Share
In this new surf-sand-and-sex reality series, a group of strangers comes together to spend their summer weekends in a beach house on New York's Fire Island. Each Monday, the participants are free to return to their normal lives--but the cameras will track them to see what happens when their weekend activities follow them home.

Traveler
How well do you know your friends? Would you bet your life on it? It's not what we share with our friends, but what we keep hidden that defines what kind of people we are. After spending every minute of the last two years living, working, and partying together, Jay, Tyler, and Will are departing on a summer journey. But being together ends today. A simple prank to rollerblade through one of New York City's most famous museums has made Jay and Tyler prime suspects in the terrorist bombing that destroyed it seconds later. The guys hope Will can help clear up this misunderstanding, but he's been missing since the explosion and they think he might be dead. Jay wants to talk to the police about finding Will, but quickly realizes they can't even prove Will exists--in every photo for the last two years, Will managed to block his face. He was their only alibi. The FBI confirms a man matching Will's description died in the explosion, but also learns the explosion was triggered by a call from Jay's cell phone. It's a highly suspicious coincidence that may prove that Will, the glue in their friendship, may have meticulously planned this betrayal for more than two years. Perfectly framed and on the run, the friends must rely on each other to get away from the FBI and try to get to the bottom of a conspiracy that has destroyed their future. But what can they do when they're merely pawns in a game of global intrigue? Flashing back to the prior two years to illustrate the formation of this friendship and Will's insidious behavior, this action-packed drama taps into our paranoia with pure adrenaline-fueled entertainment. My Network TV

Made up of the former affiliates of The WB and UPN that will not be joining The CW, My Network TV will launch in September 2006. Look for original primetime programming including telenovelas, unscripted series, and current-events shows. More information coming soon!

A Dangerous Love
Maria Conchita Alonso stars in this new telenovela, which follows the Olivera and Mazzoni families as they struggle with a bitter feud that has plagued them for years.

Art of Betrayal
They say that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...and Blythe, the ex-wife of a successful and heartless businessman, is no exception to the rule. When Blythe attempts to destroy her former love's career, however, she finds that revenge can have some unexpected consequences.

Desire
Nate Haden and Zack Silva star as two brothers on the run from the mob, fleeing from their New Jersey home to the perceived safety of Los Angeles. Their trek is made all the more tumultuous by one very unfortunate circumstance: both brothers are passionately in love with the same woman.

Secret Obsessions
Secret Obsessions takes viewers deep into the sullied heart of the fashion industry, a world in which jewel-encrusted dreams can come true in a heartbeat--only to be crushed by the dark forces of insatiable greed, all-consuming desire, and merciless ambition. Bo Derek stars.

Watch Over Me
Julia and her fiance Sebastian were meant to have a perfect marriage, but the dangerous world they inhabit makes it necessary for a third party to enter their relationship--Jack, a bodyguard hired to protect them both. Unfortunately for the entire trio, Jack's arrival is the catalyst for a heart-rending love triangle that may destroy them all.

What I Like About You” isn’t coming back? Wow, really disappointed. That show was definitely my favorite and now it's only a repeat at like 3 o'clock on this new cw thing. I'm sorry one of the two companies didn’t have enough money to support itself, or one of the companies wasn't getting good enough ratings but cutting shows like “What I Like About You” is beyond ridiculous. The only time I ever plan on watching this newly merged channel is when the repeats are on because the show is that amazing and I hate the fact that there will no longer be any new episodes and to watch my second favorite show “One Tree Hill.” The only positive thing I have to say is, you were very smart to keep that.

Supernatural is the BEST show on tv. I'm glad One Tree Hill is going on to but I'm am so ecstatic about Supernatural second season. It rocks and Jared Padalecki is the hottest man alive. I love Jensen Ackles too. I love the CW for continuing Supernatural. They are very smart!

urggggg! sooooo mad they canceled "Heist", I guess NBC has to make room for Crappy shows like "Deal or no Deal" and "Americas got Talent". the only saving grace this fall is "Heroes", hopefully that dosen't get canceled to.

So where is Medium in the new schedule? It doesn't say 'to return midseason' next to it on the list of renewed shows...??? New shows - looking forward to Heroes, Jericho and Justice... =) And why isn't there any info on the networks like Sci-fi, USA, FX or Showtime??

Oh yeah does anyone else agree that besides a few shows on NBC such as Will and Grace(which is ended now), ER, Scrubs and Law and Order that it has really gone downhill. I mean ever since Friends left they really haven't been able to hit on any new good show at least not ones that hold my interest. Even Joey was a huge disappointment for me who is a huge fan of Friends.

I am so happy that Gilmore, One Tree and Smallville are back. Also I have been a loyal 7th Heaven fan since it started and I am glad they picked it up again because the finale was not a very good send off for a show that's been on for 10 years. I'm sooo bummed that Related didn't make the cut while so many other crappy shows did. I won't mention specific shows because I choose not to upset people who like these particular shows. Plus ER is back which didn't come as a shock since that show has me plus 12.5 million other people so enthralled even after all this time. LONG LIVE ER!!!

What is wrong with ABC? It was my favorite network this past season and now I am so upset with all the shows they are cancelling to bring in these new ones. I am especially upset about Invasion! That show was great! And it ended with a cliff-hanger- how can that not be resolved for us? ABC should have at least stuck with Invasion-it had its fans and more would have caught on. VERY UPSET!!!!

Looks like there is nothing good but Thursday night for me (excluding Deal or No Deal- one show I did not join the bandwagon on). I'll have to check out some new shows to find some more things to watch- but I am very upset about the cancellation of Conviction, Surface and Teachers and the ending of Will and Grace. NBC is losing (and getting rid of) the good stuff. I won't complain completely because I love The Office and am very happy its still here- hopefully it will continue on for a while too.

Random Thoughts: Great to see House, Amazing Race, CSI's, Law and Order's, Criminal Minds, Smallville, Supernatural, 2 and 1/2 men, king of queens and numb3rs, amazing shows. All WB shows are SO terrible except Smallville, Supernatural and Reba. In Justice should be renewed in place of Brian. Book of Daniel may have been the worst show EVER on Tv with the Adventures of Christine close second place. 7th heaven is dead and gone for me while the War at home is hilarious, just give it a chance

What the heck is Without A Trace doing on Sunday night? I loved my Thursday night lineup. Thank God they picked up Criminal Minds again. I love Thomas Gibson, and also quirky Matthew Gubler.

E-Ring should of been included. What was NBC thinking. No wonder why they are losing viewers. And also to put Law and Order on Friday at 9pm is a slap in the face. As far as Iam concern if it wasn't for Law and Order then NBC would not exist today. They should be kissing there butt to give them the best time slot. Don't worry Law and Order your devotee's will follow you.

What about Syndicated and lesser network shows? Shows such as SciFi's Stargate SG1/Atlantis, or USA Network's The Dead Zone? Perhaps an additional column could have been designated 'Other' for the multitude of quality shows from the smaller or specialty networks.

Jericho does look good. I watched the clips here on tv.com and I am hooked! Then i saw the video promo at http://www.cbs.com/primetime/upfront_2006/jericho.shtml

And it sealed the deal. I know where I am going to be Wed. night at 8pm

Alot of shows got canned because of the WB/UPN merger, but that would obviosly happen. Good to see Supernatural is returning, and Runaway might be good.

Farewell Malcolm In The Middle. House of course returns. As well as Prison Break. And their new show Vanished could be great.

No surprise CBS cancelled Thresold. It's been a brutal year for new sci-fi shows. Hopefully Sci-fi Channel will pick up the unaired episodes. On to CBS's new shows, Creature Comforts and Jericho look interesting.

They cancelled Invasion!!! That show was getting better by the week. That is a bone-headed move by ABC.

As for the new shows (Greg Behrendt's Wake-Up Call, In Case Of Emergency, The Nine, Six Degrees, and Traveler), ABC has some definite potentially really good shows coming in.

How can the CW put Supernatural up against both CSI and Grey's Anatomy.

Friday Night Lights, Heroes, and Raines sound like they could be good shows. I'm glad My Name Is Earl, The Office, and Scrubs are returning. I liked Surface, even though it was a bit strange, and I'll be sad to see it go away.

I cannot believe that HEIST, the best cop show in years, has been cancelled! Ridiculous scheduling meant that it was up against established heavyweights such as Lost and American Idol. Combine excellent scripting, hot chicks, and a well-cast crew, and you get HEIST - this REALLY deserves another chance, especially as many season finales are screening this week! Networks, put this back on TV and watch your ratings rocket!!PLEASE! PLEASE! DO IT NOW! (Or you could sell it to an English Network. That works equally well!)

These networks also need to get with the 21st Century, I think ABC is getting it now, and realize just because this out of date Nielson system crap does not show everyone watching one particular show at a particular time does not mean no one is watching. With Tivo, and dual tuners common now, not to mention d/ling torrents of all the shows it's time to adjust the way programming is done with broadcast tv.

I never started D/L'ing shows until a couple years ago I missed recording a show because they switched the damn night again, and D/Ling it was the best way to see what I missed.

All these networks are screwed up, they are constantly jerking around the best shows to try to win a demographic, when they should just be happy when they have a great show and people are watching. Stop hiding them, and moving them around where people just give up trying to watch. and OMFG the repeats!! Stop repeating shows that have a audience that religiously watches them, if they want they should just run the season twice if they want to catch people up. Lost is a perfect example of that. All of them should follow Fox's model with 24, and run the shows in order and back to back.

Shows I think they jerk around way too much.
Scrubs, Commander in Chief, Lost, The OC, Crossing Jordan, Las Vegas (Fridays setting up for disaster) Smallville, King of Queens, Not to mention cable shows like Dead Zone, Nip/Tuck.

I think that it is great that 7th Heaven is coming back, but it also sucks that Charmed isn't. And neither is Living With Fran. Both were great shows, but all in all Charmed was and will always be my favorite WB show. I wish that they would bring the girls back. They hired Kaley Cucco just to air in one season, that isn't a job, that is a job gone bad. I also noticed that Charmed doesn't have any reruns airing on the WB. Why is it being called the CW? Please tell me.

There are way too many great shows getting the boot this year. Invasion and Surface were not given enough time to see how great they would become and I was very happy with them both. Invasion being my favorite. Also there is Charmed, and my mom was none too happy to see Everwood go. I am happy the way they ended Charmed though, they did a great job ending it even though I'm sad to see it go. I also hear that Gilmore Girls may get the boot. That would not be right esp with the way they ended it this time. Please people don't leave us fans hanging on that one wondering what will happen. I'm already sick enough with Invasion getting the boot. I guess I'll just have to imagine what might have been. I'm so sick over Invasion I refuse to even watch ABC again. Invasion, Surface, Gilmore Girls, and Everwood should not be cancelled! If all the networks continue to keep pulling all the great shows I think I'll just skip tv all together and just rent movies.

Invasion cancelled!
I cannot for the life of me understand why.Invasion was the best show that ABC ever had. There was nothing bad about Invasion. Everything from the plot to the actors was excellent. It turns my stomach so that I may never watch ABC ever again.
