UPDATE (1/27): Hey-o! Not only has January been packed with premieres, it's been packed with premiere date announcements. We've just added a bunch of shows to the schedule below—see the Editors' Notes at the bottom of this page for more details.
Happy New Year! Now that 2013 is officially behind us, it's time to look forward! To set goals! To dream big! To watch a crap-ton of new TV! The midseason is here, and after that disappointing fall we just had, hoo boy, are we ready. There's lots of exciting stuff up ahead, in both the "returning favorite" and "good-looking newbie" categories. So to help you plan accordingly—because the last thing you want is for your goal-setting and big-dreaming to interfere with your crap-ton-of-television-watching, especially if you're still working on your holiday homework—we've compiled a handy list of midseason premiere dates for your scheduling convenience. Bookmark this page now; below, you'll find a filterable guide to all the new and returning TV series that are airing in the next couple months. Premiere dates, airtimes, editors' picks—they're all in there. We'll continue to update it in the coming days and weeks.
Please give the module a few seconds to load, it's a heavy one!
Editor's Note #1: If you click the follow button next to any given show, it will: 1. add that show to your "following" list (which you can access via the dropdown menu in the upper righthand corner of the site, next to your user name), 2. add that show to a personalized listings module on the TV.com homepage, and 3. add you as a member of the corresponding show community (if it exists), which means you'll see posts about the show in your community feed.
Editor's Note #2: Currently, our module only displays shows that have definite premiere dates—that's why you won't find shows like Undateable, Crossbones, Louie (which will be back in May, but we don't know exactly when), and plenty more in the list above. We DO expect them to debut/return in the near future, but until they're officially on the schedule, they won't appear in the list. We're hoping to add a "TBD" classification soon.
Editor's Note #3: If you think you've found an error or notice that we've missed a particular series, please (politely!) let us know in the comments.
Editors's Note #4 (added 1/3): We've added The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Crazy Hearts: Nashville, and the 2014 Winter Olympics, plus "where we left off" descriptions for many returning series. Also, to address an issue that's come up in the comments a couple times: We restricted this guide to shows that didn't air in the fall, with an exception for those that are taking an extended or atypically long hiatus (Glee, The Walking Dead, Grey's Anatomy, Once Upon a Time, etc.).
Editors's Note #4 (added 1/22): We've added dates for About a Boy, Believe, Crisis, Growing Up Fisher, 24: Live Another Day, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, Gang Related, Surviving Jack, Black Box, Mind Games, Dancing With the Stars, Fargo, Legit, Ali G: Rezurection, Californication, Nurse Jackie, The Years of Living Dangerously, Penny Dreadful, Survivor, The Amazing Race, Mad Men, Turn, Sirens, Game of Thrones, Veep, Silicon Valley, Vice, Those Who Kill, Da Vinci's Demons, and From Dusk 'Til Dawn: The Series.
Editors's Note #4 (added 1/27): We've added dates for Salem, Devious Maids, and FX's new 10/90 sitcom Saint George.
What will YOU be watching this midseason?
I will only be watching the returning shows...I will wait for the renewal-cancellation updates before bothering with any of the new shows. A bunch look interesting, but I hate getting involved with new shows that get cancelled after one season or even a few episodes. I find this to be more of a problem for mid-season shows. Not sure why.
Has anyone heard any news about when Grey's Anatomy is coming back?
And Justified is excellent! It won't end until after Season 6, which airs in 2015.
We're working on an update now, and many new dates will be added by the end of the day.
Over the weekend, we'll be adding more updates due to the scheduling announcements that came out over the last couple days, so sit tight/stay tuned for those!
And the cry of "Bansheeeeeee!!!" was heard across the land
I'm looking forward to checking out True Detective and The 100.
And I'm 4 episodes into Orphan Black and really liking it so far.
Is FOX's US & THEM dead and done or are they still working on that?
What about NBC's CROSSBONES?
I have to admit it really does seem like tv.com is intentionally snubbing CW, which is a shame.
It would be good if you could really cover everything.
