2016 TV Premiere Dates: Your Everything Guide to the Summer Schedule

UPDATE 5/9: Thank you for your patience. The guide should be working again! Please let an editor know if you see any more issues.

Everyone always makes a big deal about the fall television schedule, but did you know that television still happens in the summer? If you don't believe us, check out our handy-dandy interactive summer schedule, which is loaded with premiere dates for all the new and returning shows airing on broadcast and cable during these warm, lemonade-sipping months. You can sort through the pile by weekday, network, or returning-versus-new status, or you can save yourself the trouble of rummaging for something good by searching for our editors' picks.

So: What will YOU be watching this summer?

Please give the module a few seconds to load, it's a heavy one!

Editor's Note #1: If you click the "follow" button next to any given show, it will: 1. add that show to your "following" list (which you can access via the dropdown menu in the upper righthand corner of the site, next to your user name), 2. add that show to a personalized listings module on the TV.com homepage, and 3. add you as a member of the corresponding show community (if it exists), which means you'll see posts about the show in your community feed.

Editor's Note #2: Currently, our module only displays shows that have definite premiere dates—until a show is officially on the schedule, it won't appear in the widget. So, don't fret because you don't see a premiere date for your favorite summer series. It just means the network hasn't set a definitive premiere date yet.

Editor's Note #3: If you think you've found an error or notice that we've missed a particular premiere date, please (politely!) let us know in the comments.

What will YOU be watching this summer?

Have 12 Monkeys, Containment, Game of Thrones, Person of Interest, Wynonna Earp & Preacher on now, Aquarius & The Last Ship starting this week, Dark Matter & Killjoys in two weeks, Mr. Robot in four weeks & Ballers in five weeks. That's me sorted. :)

I've always been a fan of checking out the Fall TV schedules, and so I was interested in checking out the summer schedule and came upon this site. I feel in many ways TV has changed a lot since even in the past decade, but it hasn't changed in that most shows on TV (or streaming) are still pretty crap in my opinion. After looking at this TV schedule most of the shows just seem trashy and sometimes even disturbing, if not boring. There's only a few shows that I'm interested in at least checking out: Roots, Home Free and maybe Uncle Buck (because I grew up watching the movie). I cannot go through another season of Aquarius. I watched it last year and it was just too much for me, and I didn't feel like I really benefited from watching it. If I won't get something substantially good out of watching something, and I have to sift through too much trashiness in order to get to it, then I just don't even want to bother because honestly it's not even worth it.

Could have been a lot shorter if they went ahead and cut Killjoys & Dark Matter.

When I was a mere grasshopper many moons ago, summer was a time when you turned off the TV and went outside and took advantage of the warm weather. Oh, there were a few summer replacement shows, but they were never meant to return for another season the following summer, so if you didn't want to invest in them (and you had to watch in real time because no cable or home video or internet), you didn't have to and nobody would care.

Not anymore. Now there's all sorts of pressure to keep up with what's on during the summer. Oh, one COULD wait until fall, winter or spring to catch up, but by then spoilers abound, shows you were interested in might be cancelled, and there will be a million new shows to watch.

Enjoy your summer viewing, young'uns .

outcast is pretty good, on fox's facebook page you can watch the first episode and have to say it is one of the possession tv/film since the exorcist.

Add to all the great shows mentioned, Penny Dreadful, 12 Monkeys, Turn,Banshee, which I guess are spring not summer and I find that they destroy whatever is the prime time fall line up. And lets not forget The Musketeers, should have already premiered. Wish they would announce that already. What the hell are they waiting for. Its like they WANT people to become disinterested in stuff.

Dark Matter only, the rest doesn't look too interesting (will try maybe 3 new shows but I don't have high hopes).

Oh, and also: Stranger Things! Because it sounds creepy and mysterious, and should therefore prove interesting. Hopefully. Plus, it's on Netflix...and I have a serious thing for Netflix; as most others do.

I'll be watching...
OITNB Season 4
Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll
the Fosters
Mr. Robot

and The Bachelorette, most likely. (It's soapy and sorta terrible, but it's like a bad trainwreck...you just can't look away!)
I'd also like to get into Zoo - it sounds interesting - but I gotta start from Season 1, 'cause I'm behind.

This in addition, of course, to the Netflix shows I'm in the middle of already. :)

On Syfys homepage they list something called "Aftermath" to premiere this summer that seems to be a new tv-show. If it is a tv-show it should be listed here, and other places i visit as well but it is not listed anywhere. I found this link, calls it a "summer series"? Just a tip for anybody interested:

Checked the syfy site. No start date listed for Aftermath.
Looks like a it is a Canadian series that syfy picked up. Continuum was a Canadian series that was good so this one could be worth checking out. Good cast...

Yeah it surely looks worth checking out but it is very odd that they still have no start date, since summer has already started. Or will it be a very late summer show, like in august? We will have to wait and see.

Glad to see you got the bugs worked out. The best premiere date list out there (although let me for the umpteenth time plead for a chronological listing either in addition to or to replace the all list).... Disappointed The Challenge never seems to make the list especially since MTV does a pisspoor job of promoting it and of showing many repeats. Glad I caught the start of Season 28 last week.

Any word on Humans or The Code?
Reply

Humans is currently filming. The Season 2 premiere is slated for late 2016 in the UK (channel 4) and 2017 in the U.S. (AMC)

The Code is in post-production. Release date is unknown.

Thanks Fastfreddy666.I just saw that info on Humans and was hoping something more definite had surfaced. As for The Code I wasn't sure what was going on other than a second season of six episodes was ordered. The first seasons last episode aired in October 2014! It seems to be taking longer and longer to produce less and less.Which sucks because by the time some shows air their next season you have to watch the previous season again to remember what happened.

How is there not more excitement around "Vice Principles"? Danny McBride and Walton Goggins together in an HBO comedy. I'm honestly way more excited to watch this than I am "Preacher". And this is coming from someone who loved "Preacher" thru its entire comic book run

I was hoping for Sense8 in August, but it seems like it might not arrive this year after all. Sad.
So instead I'll have to focus on another Netflix series with high production values, arriving after a longer hiatus - Marco Polo.

Besides that, I think Preacher might be the only new series I intend to follow from the very start (hopefully it's going to be closer to Netflix shows or Agents of Shield in terms of quality, rather than the CW ones; I don't think I could stand more of the latter).
The rest is wait and see, mostly for what kind of reception they get from fellow TV watchers.

I might try to catch up with Mr. Robot and Kingdom in time for their respective sophomore seasons; or if not, decide to delve in afterwards if the word of mouth is still as strong.

Wow, a busy summer for me, apparently:

Will watch: Scream, Angie Tribeca, BrainDead, Murder in the First, Zoo, Killjoys, Dark Matter, Mr. Robot, Halt and Catch Fire, Sense8.
Will try: Preacher, Wayward Pines, Roots, Stranger Things, Thirteen, Queen of the South, American Gothic.
Maybe: American Gothic, Thirteen, Dead of Summer, Cleverman, Outcast.

IMHO notable names: Virginia Madsen (American Gothic), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (BrainDead), Winona Ryder (Strange Things).

I know the rest of the finales are almost here and looking at the list I'm thinking it will be lean TV for the next month and a half :(

There are however a lot of great shows that are not made in the US , so I guess I will catch up on those.

Oh dear

Well, I'm planning to start watching Marseille this week.

I think the only other ones I'll have a look at are:
Sunday: Feed the Beast
Wednesday: Cleverman
Friday: Stranger Things

Is Marco Polo any good?

It's really grown on me, and I would say it's one of those cases where many critics were way too quick jumping to conclusions by lambasting the show (much like with Sense8).

That said, the pilot for Marco Polo was fairly weak. I only started coming around by the end of the 2nd episode, then came the stronger ones. The acting can be occasionally uneven and it would probably be better if the actors spoke English less.
On the other hand, it has some amazing visuals and greatly choreographed action sequences. Plus some interesting characters who are largely non-Caucasian; if that historical setting and culture appeal to you, it's going to be a huge plus. Once the show settles in, the pace of storytelling is brisk.
