24: Sky1 Confirms Season 8 Return Date

The eighth season of Kiefer Sutherland's award-winning series is scheduled to start on Sky1 just six days after its American debut.

Popular drama, 24, is set to return to Sky1 on Sunday, January 24, 2010--less than a week after its premiere on US channel Fox. The new season, set in New York City, begins with a double-bill and welcomes newcomers Freddie Prinze. Jnr (She's All That), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) and Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire).

"The setup for [this season] is the most realistic political thing that I think we've ever done since we started the show," Sutherland explains in a statement: "This season is more grounded in what possibly could happen. There's a sense of reality that almost brings it back to season one."

The show's premiere date follows in the footsteps of FlashForward, Stargate Universe and House with its airdate set to broadcast closely after its American debut. It also gives hope to many Lost fans who are eager to watch the new, and final, season of the series--currently scheduled to air in American on Tuesday, February 2, but yet to be scheduled on Sky1.

To ready viewers for 24's return the broadcaster is also re-airing the show's seventh season from Tuesday, December 29 at 8am through to Wednesday, December 30 also at 8am.
