8 p.m., CW

The Vampire Diaries

Katherine (Nina Dobrev) tells Stefan (Paul Wesley) what really happened on that fateful day in 1864 when she turned him into a vampire. Man, I love a good 100-plus-year flashback.

8:30 p.m., NBC

30 Rock

Brian Williams is guest-starring in this episode, which obviously means that you need to watch it. I hope he takes over Kenneth’s empty page position. Plus, Paul Giamatti guest-stars as Liz’s (Tina Fey) new love interest and Jack (Alec Baldwin) tries to teach his unborn son how to be a Donaghy.

9 p.m., FOX

Fringe

Bolivia (Anna Torv) “helps” Peter (Joshua Jackson) and Walter (John Noble) solve a case involving a mysterious box that causes people to go into permanent trances. Walter also attends the reading of William Bell’s will.

10 p.m., NBC

The Apprentice

This week, the candidates must run a doggie day care—under the watchful eye of The Dog Whisperer’s Cesar Millan, of course.

10 p.m., FX

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Mac (Rob McElhenney), Charlie (Charlie Day) and Dennis (Glenn Howerton) buy a boat with the intention of throwing parties on it, but Charlie, Dee (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank (Danny DeVito) end up causing some major damage after they’re tasked with cleaning it up.

11 p.m., COMEDY

The Daily Show

Jon Stewart welcomes Justin Timberlake. Swoon!
