56 Million People Watched Obama Announce Osama's Death

... Do you know where you were the evening of May 1, 2011? I know where I was: celebrating my cats' birthdays. Seriously. However, 56 million of you were doing something else: watching President Obama deliver news that Osama Bin Laden had been killed by US forces. One of my cats says the force was necessary and that a great evil has been wiped off the face of the Earth, but the other cat thinks Osama should have been captured and given a fair trial. I have since kicked the second cat out of my house. [Courant]

... In case you haven't gotten enough of Osama vs. Obama: This Time It's Personal, 60 Minutes has got you covered. The CBS news magazine will be the first TV program to sit down with the Obama to talk about the operation and the president's new permanent smile. Steve Kroft will conduct the interview, which will air this Sunday at 7pm. [CBS News]

... Let's keep the military theme going! Lifetime has renewed its hit Army Wives for a sixth season, and Drop Dead Diva for a third. The cable network has also given the greenlight to 11 new unscripted programs, including two Project Runway spin-offs. [LA Times]

... ABC has put Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution in the freezer, and won't defrost the reality show's remaining episode until June 3, a Friday. The show has been performing miserably on Tuesday nights, where it was up against a solid menu of successful reality shows. [Variety]

... History Channel is gettin' 'er done with Larry the Cable Guy. Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy has been renewed for a second season. Also renewed were Ax Men, Ice Road Truckers, IRT: Deadliest Roads, Swamp People, and Top Gear. History Channel: It's like the South of the television landscape. [EW]

... Katie Couric's successor at CBS Evening News has been named. Scott Pelley will take over the news desk at The Eye beginning on June 6. He currently serves as a reporter for 60 Minutes. The new news show will be named either CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley or CBS' Party Times With Scott McBongripper. We'll let you know as soon as we find out. [CBS News]

Ok, did you even really read my post? I don't think we "found and killed" anybody! Americans aren't to blame for the wars, just the government. Just like many Germans were good people during WW2, they were all hated by default, guilty by association. But it's ignorant and unfair to impugn so many americans over the actions of the elite few who are actually* in power. And I'm sorry that I refuse to be swayed by a man just because he is black (unlike so many others).

So what do Americans and their aliies do when American bombs have murdered more than 3,000 innocents by genocide and call it war?
And then you wonder why they grow up with hatred in their hearts and target Americans and their allies. But it won't be very long that jubilation will soon disappear and anxiety and fear will soon take over waiting for reprisals from OBL secondarys. And then you will start targeting Arabs and Muslims in your country.
I'm sorry, but the US is still an infant when it comes to war. Even with the high tech weaponry that the top nations have. And don't tell me you "Yeah! I least we found and kill Bin Laden." OBL was just a figurehead. But these people have been fighting invaders since time began. Remember the Crusades.
Thank God for my little isand in the SUN. Jamaica Forever!!!!!!!

Ok sir please fill me in why so many people don't like us. Anyway, we don't like our presidents because they are a sham. It's a farse. Obama is no different from Bush who is no different from Clinton or Bush Sr. or Reagan.. They're all serving the agenda of the bankers. To do what, you say? To abolish the middle class and so much more. This has nothing to do with the average Joe Citizen though..I am speaking about dirty politicians and elitist bankers..

So, Mr. Writerpatricker please tell me what's so awesome about YOUR country so I can find ways to insult you too. I'm pretty sure I'll win that type of insult war.

they're happy because he's been stopped - it probably wasn't the ideal way to do that but are you really saying you would rather he was still out there planning more attacks and killing innocents!?

And Americans wonder why so many people don't like them. Just because you don't agree with what your cat says isn't any reason to kick it out of the house. It's also not right to celebrate anyone's death, be they good or bad.

I was actually watching my local news when they said the president was "supposed" to come on at 10:30. But I did watch it when he came on an hour later.

01. Bkto is an idiot. 02. Osama dead - YAY! Beers on me! I was sitting at home, watching my DVR'd episode of House when I checked CNN.com and found out. I rolled a fat one to celebrate. I then found out that we also killed a few Gaddafis - I did a fist pump and threw on the theme song for Team America. Good day.
