7th Heaven resurrected

This was supposed to be the last season of 7th Heaven. The expensive show, which had run for 10 seasons, was a casualty of the UPN/WB merge that is creating The CW.

Mediaweek reports that The CW has received an infusion of new cash from its corporate parents, CBS and Warner Bros., and will bring the show back for at least 13 episodes this fall.

Heaven, starring Stephen Collins as a minister, is the longest-running family drama in television history, surpassing The Waltons' nine seasons. The show averaged 5.2 million viewers last season, making it The WB's most-watched series.

I missed 7th Heaven..Im glad it did come back one last season. 11 years for a sitcom/drama is very rare. It was a great family show and did touch point on real life situations and themes. If only Mary and Simon came back.

I was crushed when the network canceled my favorite show. When I saw the announcement for the new season I ran around the house jumping for JOY. THANKS FOR BRINGING IT BACK!!!!

I think this has been one of the most wholesome shows around and I hope that it will be around for many years to come. It's not often that we have a good healthy show on the t.v. I wish that there were more family shows on for good examples. Yes there have been real life issues but hey, it is good how they figure things out with out blood and guts all over the place. also whoever does the ratings should take a look at why kids do what they do in real life, they learn it from the programs that we adults provide for them. thank you. for letting me make this comment.

your wondering why they are bringing it back. Well heres a little info:

"The show averaged 5.2 million viewers last season, making it The WB's most-watched series. "

"is the longest-running family drama in television history, surpassing The Waltons' " Tv is all about money not the shows. If the show is awesome and is not bringing in the money, Its gone.

Its really simple

7th heaven coming back is retarded. it only drew a large ending audience because the show was supposed to be over, and now they are gonna come back without mat, mary, simon, or ruthie this year. sure they may make quest appearances, but its just not the same. if anything, they should have just took lucy and kev and made a spinoff--the way they are bringing it back is just DUMB

Can you resurrect The Charmed Ones? I am really confused, how can you bring 7th Heaven back but not Charmed.

I grew up on programs like "The Real McCoys", Ozzie & Harriet, Donna Reed, Leave it to Beaver, Fury, The Roy Rogers Show and Circus Boy. I had a horrible childhood having been physically, sexually & mentally abused as well as constantly moving from state to state. The happy family shows may have been unrealistic, but they provided hope & escape for a little girl who needed something positive to look forward to. I wanted Roy & Dale to be my parents & Corky to be my brother. I look at the blood & gore of most current shows and I know that 7th Heaven is a safe haven for some other little girl out there. I work at a school and see small children cussing, inacting violence they have seen on tv and knowing way too much about sex at 6 years old. I wouldn't allow my son to watch the Simsons after the trash that he picked up watching it at a friend's house. We need more positive programs like 7th Heaven and Joan of Arcadia to show children that the world can be a nice place to grow up into. I cannot watch Law & Order SUV because of the subject matter and the reality shows are gross. I live in the real world, I coach Special Olympics & work with Special Ed. kids. There are some wonderful people on this earth and I would really like to see more of them represented on television. &th Heaven, keep it coming!!!

I dont understand why 7th Heaven was not considered for the fall before it was cancled. It didnt make sence that the WB's most watched show wouldn't be kept. I mean Hello why not show what people watch. I think as it has such viewership why not keep it for 11, 12, or more if it has such viewership. It offers something that can encourage discussions, in the home, and its something that doesnt push what the sensors will allow. Thus the whole family can watch a tv show that is enjoyable entertainment.

Well, at least we'll get a better finale this time round. Bcause, I agreee, this finale wasn't the best. It's just too bad that 7th Heaven took Everwood's spot on CW....

I think the Series Finale was the worst I have ever seen. I don't know what the writers were thinking. Unless they were thinking that if they made the finale so bad they (the powers that be) would have to resurrect the show to give it a proper ending?!? I hope they do a better job with the final year. But, to do away with Everwood was a TOTAL DISGRACE!! But, I do have to say, at least those writers know how to go out with style. The Everwood ending was the BEST Series Finale I have seen since M.A.S.H.!!! If any show deserves to be resurrected it is Everwood. Are the Powers-that-be listening????

I am excited to hear that 7th Heaven will return next season. I agree that all good things must eventually come to an end, but to me, this show hadn't quite run it's course. They have to address that cliffhanger after last season, and hopefully get Martin and Ruthie together.

It's great to keep a show with values and have another chance to give the show the ending it deserves. Thank You, CW.

i like 7th heaven before but now it is getting kinda unreal and not true. it is very unlikely that they are having twins and even better at the same time. i'm glad it got renewed though cause hopefully this season will be better than the "season finale"!

7th Heaven had it's turn to shine and it went out with a bang. Now give EVERWOOD the opportunity to do the same thing.

Why? Can't they just let it die?

7th Heaven's story lines were so WEAK at the end...I mean talk about cheesy and unrealistic! The show has no where else to go and yet the CW is bringing it back but canceling other great shows (i.e. EVERWOOD!) that have so much life yet! The CW keeps it up and they won't have any viewers left...I know I won't be watching!

My only question with this is if Tyler Hoechin (Martin) and Haylie Duff (Sandy) are coming back. The developments in their characters are some of the best things the show has going right now to keep momentum alive, and there's a good chance Martin will return for a few episodes, but I just can't see Haylie Duff committing to a whole new season, and if she and the baby aren't in there, how will they keep the ball rolling after that crazy season finale? Has anyone heard anything confirmed about this?

They really should have closed everything up with the 10th season finale and let it go. But obviously they knew they were coming back for another year, so that's why they left all the open ends. There's still more that can be told, I'll give them that. But sometimes the sign of a classy show is one that is willing to let go when it needs to. Just because a show hung on to pretty good ratings doesn't mean it has to come back for more. They had the rare gift of getting Jessica Biel back for that finale, and I would be really surprised if they maneuvered that one again for the real finale (whenever that will be).

I am so happy that 7th Heaven has decided to come back. I mean its the show I watch cause I've done it since i was 11 years old. I have never missed an episode and won't miss the next season. I am so sad that Everwood is gone cause i've watched it right after 7th Heaven for the last 4 years and as far as emotions go, its a very emotional show and the CW will regret. I actually was very happy when they took it off of thursdays and put back where it belongs. And should continue to be. Right after 7th Heaven. I was very upset with The loose of Everwood I just heard it for the first time at the end of the show. When I went online to do research on why i learned 7th Heaven was back and I was so happy. I was screaming around and imma dude. i just love that show. But everwood needs to do a last minute reprival as well... forget a RUNWAY EVERWOOD is a winner.

I am so beyond happy about this. I cried my eyes out with this. I'm just going to be challeneged because Wildfire is also going to be coming back for a 3rd season. I will not give up either show. I'll figure out something. Well, anyways, the one question that I'm sure is on every 7th Heaven fans' mind is this: exactly what channel will the CW be on?

Good. Maybe by then, Sam's and David's characters will have their own personalities and brains.

Thank you so much for saving this show. My daughter and I now have something to look forward to this fall. Please figure out a way to keep it going past the 13 episodes. Yes I realize it is expensive but with it being at or near the top like it is that should make it more than worth it. I think it is funny, for every complaint there is atleast 2 that are saying something good about it. I'm sick of all the violent shows they offer. We need something family friendly and this definately is. THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!

I am very mad that 7th heaven was brought back and that Everwood was cancelled. It is not fair because 7th heaven was supposed to be cancelled not Everwood. I hate the CW and I will never forgive them until they bring Everwood back. This sucks. Good Job Don Ostroff of picking the lameist show over Everwood. Everwood is better and it is supposed to have another season or two. 7th heaven died four years ago and next season is going to suck worse then this season.

I can't wait to see where this goes. I have been an avid fan forever, and was seriously disappointed with the series finale. I would really like to see Everwood come back. Do they really need an entire Friday night for wrestling? Give me a break! I am ectastic thbat Gilmore Gilrs is staying, I just hope it's not the last season. :(

I am in complete disbelief that the CW is "reviving" 7th Heaven, a show that has been dead for at least 2 seasons. I don't think there are any more unrealistic, uninteresting, ridiculous plots that this show hasn't already used. I used to watch this show way back when it was actually good. However, the few episodes I caught this season (giant waste of my time) was some of the worst television I have EVER seen . I also can't believe that this network is canning Everwood, a great show that is actually entertaining, and keeping a show that is completely past its prime. Yes, I know it gets good ratings, but WHO IS WATCHING THIS? There must be a severe lack of programming in the time slot, because 7th Heaven has become ridiculous and laughable, and not in a good way. The CW execs should do the long-running show a favor and let it go with the (very little) dignity it still possesses. Everwood is good tv, give it as much bravado as 7th Heaven and it will succeed. Don't waste time and money on a show that can not be revived!!

It was really confusing at the end. Was that one of Eric's and Annie's daydream? Are all the thre of the married kids excepting twins? Almost at the same time? Well I just can't wait for the new season, it can be really interesting with so much grandchildren for Eric and Annie. They will have more grandchildren than kids... :)

I am so happy they are keeping 7th Heaven on. There is no way they can end a show with the finale they tried to pull off. That left with so many questions. It was a horrible end to a wonderful show. I hope they keep both 7th Heaven and Everwood on. Those are the 2 best shows that WB has going for them.

I am so glad they are bringing the Camden clan back to tv for another season. That was one of the main shows I looked forward to watching every Monday night. Even though the finale was not what I was expecting, i am still an avid fan and will continue to be. Long live the Camden family:)

I knew when I saw the way the Season 10 finale ended that it was not the last we'd see of the Camdens. Whether it was a reunion special, a spinoff or even an 11th season of some kind, I had a feeling it wasn't going anywhere just yet. Now we know that's true.

I was initially shocked and annoyed that they were keeping 7th Heaven on the schedule for next fall, but now that I think about it, I guess it's reasonable for them to do so. If they go past Season 11 that will be just plain unreasonable, but if they take just one more chance to tie everything up and end it for good, then maybe it's a good thing. They can have all the older Camden kids give birth to their babies, they can address the Simon/Sandy connection (and I personally believe that the suspicion of Simon being the father is a total fake-out, but that's only my opinion), and maybe they can finally bring Martin back for Ruthie. If they don't get together, at least we can see some closure between them.

In order for this upcoming (and hopefully the very last) season to be any good, I think they're going to need to be braver in adding some drama. They tried too hard to make the recent "finale" super happy and cheerful, and it ended up being too silly. They shouldn't be afraid to weave some complications into the plot. It makes for better television.

Even though I don't completely agree with their decision to keep 7th Heaven, I will, of course, continue to watch and hope that they come up with some good final material. We may scoff that they're refusing to let it go, but hey, it's the most watched show on the WB--you can call it a guilty pleasure, but millions of people watch it. Apparently, they're going to suck everything it's worth from it, and everyone has their own opinions but in the end this is what they've decided, and hopefully it will prove to have been a good decision.
