A New Futurama Teaser Is Out, But Will the Show Be as Good?

Futurama is returning this June, this time airing brand-new episodes on Comedy Central. Here's the first teaser:

Futurama reruns still occupy a lot of DVR space in my house, and the classic episodes make for some great rainy-day viewing. But the four made-for-DVD films released after the show's cancellation weren't the series' best moments. I'm never going to argue against having more Futurama, but I'm concerned it won't be as good as it was in its glory years.

Do you think Futurama will come back strong?

i think that the new season should be less epic than the four movies and go back to a simple time when bender joins the mob or when bender becomes a wresler insted of fighting huge battles and stuff becuse, sure it looks cool but it is not funny

I personally thought that the final movie, Into the Wild Green Yonder, was Futurama at its best. And I liked the first movie almost as much as the fourth.

But does the teaser mean to suggest that the exciting game-changing ending of the fourth movie is being negated?

It was because of the movies that the show came back. My favorite movies are Beast With a Billion Backs and Bender's Game. The show will be just as good, I don't see why it won't be. It'll stay the same as ever. Maybe even better!

It depends on the eye of the beholder, you have to look at the movies to now what to expect next. I personally think that they'll be like they where, but I'll understand if they have a rough start. It's been a long time and I can't wait for the new episodes.

First of all let me say this; I absolutely love Futurama. I discovered this show along with Family Guy about 7 years ago when both shows were canceled. I've seen three out of the four direct-to-DVD releases (except Bender's Game, which I refuse to see because they combined Fantasy with Sci-Fi, NO THANKS!!). Anyway...s, I can't wait for the new episodes this June. I really doubt that Futurama will lose it's edge like Family Guy has lately because at least Futurama doesn't have flashbacks and cutaway gags like FG does.

I think Bender's Big Score is the best thing they ever did. I always have fun watching this show, and however it turns out, I'm just happy it's back.

movies were terrific... especially... (and i highly recommend this) watching in 20 minute sections at a time... soooo much better and more fun. if you had a prob with the movies try re-watching this way. i particularly loved the wild green yonder and bender's big score.

The first, third and fourth movie where great. I guess the only thing they did wrong was translating a 20 minute show to a movie. I didn't really mind that change, but some people did. And yes, I believe Futurama will be as good as ever.

The movies were great (admittedly there were better ones) and I don't think Futurama dropped in any way with them. I can't imagine new episodes failing if the movies didn't

I loved Futurama who knows the new episodes might be good.

I have faith that it'll be great. Times change, the show will change to a degree, but I don't think that means that it'll be worse because of the change.

Well you have to remember that seven years off the air has sent the fans' expectations skyrocketing. People won't be impressed if they're expecting a miracle orgy of humor and intelligence, because that's not what the show ever was. It was an entertaining show with wide-ranging and appealing jokes, and if it can just continue that streak then I'll be happy.

Definitely yes. It's a different thing creating plots for episodes than plots for movies due to the length of both - i think the futurama makers will enjoy the short length of episodes to blow a lot of good stuff in it and let it be high paced again. cheers.

I noticed Billy West's voice in the movies sounded a bit different in comparison to the old series. Probably because it's 7 years since the last episode. But still, new Futurama, yay!

It could be. The first made for DVD movies was pretty good. The rest not so much.

We'll just have to wait and see i guess. Those asinine morons at the Box Network were themselves fired for incompetence and beaten up too, pretty badly.

Meh, maybe who knows really,..

Probably not.

No, it won't. I've seen the four movies and they were probably 30-40% of the original show. My hopes are up though, as the 20-minute episode format is probably much more apt for Futurama than a 90-minute movie.
