ABC Announces Season Finale Dates for Once Upon a Time, Castle, and More

When it comes to the timing of networks announcing finale dates, alphabetical order has nothing to do with it. Dead last of the major networks to reveal end dates is ABC, which rolled out its spring calendar today.

Contrary to what most of the other networks are doing, ABC doesn't have too many special events planned for its shows. Only Suburgatory (a one-hour season finale on April 17) and Revenge (a two-hour finale on May 12) are getting super-sized finishes, with a couple other series getting a few extra minutes here and there.

A few of these season finales might actually be series finales, as this year's bubble is awfully big. I think it's safe to say Red Widow will join its husband and wind up dead, Body of Proof won't return barring another miracle, and despite it being some good primetime soapy fun, Nashville's ratings certainly aren't begging ABC for an encore. The Neighbors, Suburgatory, and The Middle aren't completely comfortable, but I like their chances to return. Revenge, Once Upon a TimeCastleGrey's AnatomyScandal, and Modern Family should be safe. As for Splash, let's not even talk about it. It's too depressing.

somebody isn't following the numbers very well. Nashville will most likely be back and the Middle is almost guaranteed. Rating aren't what matter. Ratings among the 18-49 demographic in comparison to the rest of the network's schedule (not the other networks or the compition) are what matter in predicting whether a show will be renewed or canceled. Given that the Middle is rating above average for ABC shows, plan on it getting renewed. Nashville is right at the average, so it's more likely to be renewed than canceled. Those are the numbers. Those are what matter.

Too bad Castle doesn't have a long season finale, I love it so much along with OUAT, Revenge and Scandal.

No, Splash is unsurprising. What's depressing is not even a comment from ABC on Happy Endings' finale, what the fuck ABC? Bad enough you've mistreated this show horribly, now you have to let it die in the Friday death slot without even a mention of when it will be put out of its misery?

Castle ends in May? Oh, I thought there were only 2 episodes left of the season... Cool! I'll take it!

If Nashville doesn't get renewed, I'm seriously going to break down and cry.

Will be Castle's next season the last one? I don't think there's going to be much more to learn (at least from Becket's mom murder).

OUaT is the only series listed that gets my time. I'm not counting DWTS; that's more "variety" than "series".

WHERE IS HAPPY ENDINGS?

I wouldnt be so sure about Revenge's chances, the second season has been a complete mess, and as far as I understand the ratings have been declining. Unless they sort things out in these last few episodes, even if it does come back for S3, I may not be tuning in.

with the complete lack of The Middle and Nashville, one could think ABC has already finale-d them..

Nashville WILL be back. There's no doubt about that! Best show on network tv, by far.

No info about HTLWYP(FTROYL) or Family Tools?

ABC is probably waiting to see how they perform. If you didn't already know, HTLWYP (FTROYL) was ordered for 13 episodes while The Family Tools' order was cut down to 10.

I don't think either will air all of their ordered episodes this season. They will probably end either May 22 or 29 I think. Also, is Family Tools going to premire on April 24 now that Suburgatory is ending on April 17?

Other than for bad ratings, I don't see why ABC would pull either series before all their episodes have aired. It doesn't really matter if they bleed into the summer.

It looks like The Middle is airing back-to-back repeats on April 24th, so Family Tools will still premiere on May 1st.

I do like The Neighbors. It started out horribly, but pretty much after episode one, it found a bizarre groove and sold it. The alien husband and the wife are brilliant. Sad that it takes aliens to work in a healthy dose of diversity, but I'll take it.

I don't love Nashville, but I don't have anything better to watch when I happen to be home on Wednesdays. So I've only watched about four sporadic episodes, but it doesn't...suck. I think ABC really wants a way to shove country down our throats, and this is pretty much the best chance they're gonna get.

Revenge is pretty stupid (especially this current season), but I'd be surprised if it didn't come back next season. At least for half, depending on how much worse it gets.

ABC will bring back Nashville because they said they want more soapy dramas like it next season. I'm not that big on the show as a whole, but I must admit their songs are really good and I'm not even a fan of country music (aside from Johnny Cash).

Castle, The Middle and Modern Family will no doubt return in the fall. Last Man Standing, The Neighbors and Malibu Country are dead. I will miss one of three the most. Nashville is still up in the air, but by ABC standards it should be back, YAY!!!

I wouldn't call Last Man Standing out just yet.

They can move it to Wednesday to take over for The Neighbors, It would work better that way!

I think Nashville is just as safe as Revenge, and Nashville has been incredibly consistent around the 1.7-1.8.

I don't feel as confident as you about Revenge's chances for a renewal, but I sure hope it will be. Castle, Once Upon a Time, Revenge, The Middle & Suburgatory... Those must live on for another season!

I hope ABC won't cancel Nashville. That would make me very sad.

Ditto. I so did not want to like Nashville, I really didn't; I don't particularly care for Hayden Panettiere, I can't stand most modern country, and didn't find Nashville to be an overly saucy town on the occasions I've had to visit. But I LOVE NASHVILLE. Love it! Connie Britton is of course captivating as Rayna James and the music is really quite good and I even really like Hayden's Juliette Barnes, not to mention the adorably talented Stella sisters, too cute. I really hope this critics' darling has a chance at a second season.

although the pilot was terrible, and the premise sounded very, very cliché, the following episodes of the neighbors turned out to be truly funny and good.. I have never seen a show improving this much within a season.. the characters are more real than many other versions that have been portrayed in other shows, even the most caricature character, the adolescent girl, evolved into being a person with feelings for her family, neighbors and the uncool boy next door.. kids are like kids, not small grown ups (other than the alien kid, who is an alien anyway:D).. the only problem is the lack of involvement of the community, as they remained as very two dimensional all through the season.. but other than that, the comedy quality of this show is really high, and despite my strong love for suburgatory, I will say that, surprisingly, neighbors turned out to be a much better suburban story..

And neither is as good as Happy Endings, which is MIA and presumed dead.
