ABC Family Renews Baby Daddy for Season 3 (Sadly, There's Still No Word on Bunheads)

The cast and EP Dan Berendsen posed for a photo on the set after hearing the news.

ABC Family took a page out of the Starz Renewal Playbook today and announced a Season 3 renewal for its young-person-raising-a-young-person comedy Baby Daddy, whose Season 2 premiere is still two months away

"Based on the creative strength we saw during production on Season 2, and how the episodes, storylines, and characters are developing, we decided to double down on this hit show and keep it in production for additional episodes,” network president Michael Riley said in an official statement.

Unfortunately the network still hasn't said anything about the one series on its roster that we're actually dying to know the fate of, Bunheads. The charming little ditty from Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino wrapped its first season last month with no word on whether it'll get a second.

So, congrats to Baby Daddy, I guess—do any of you guys watch the show? Is it worth checking out?—but now here's hoping ABC Family will follow this announcement with some good news for the residents of Paradise, too.

Baby Daddy Season 2 premieres Wednesday, March 29 at 8:30pm on ABC Family.

I LOVE this show. Danny and Riley all the way. I'm sorry, Ben is just too childish for my liking and Danny is way nicer. I'm so glad they are doing another season of this. I kinda miss jane by design. That was good.

Love this show! I sat and watched with my girls the entire first season on Netflix this week! Great cast, funny lines and situations. It's extremely well-written comedy. So glad that there are 2 more seasons!

Don't know this show but I kind of need a Bunheads season 2. I didn't know I missed ASP's witty banter in my life but I did and now I don't want to go on without.

It's not terrible, but it's incredibly forgettable. I watched and enjoyed all of season 1, but when I saw this news, I found myself thinking "What's 'Baby Daddy'?"

I love baby daddy! First season on Netflix! Although the story lines barely have begun, I can see this show turning around a bit and becoming even better! Really happy to hear this!

I didn't thought much of Baby daddy, didn't hate it but not worth my time, too classical with a really cheap laugh feeling.
Bunheads on the other hand is a gem, I really hope that ABCf won't kill it.

I like this show, but I'm really surpised that ABC family has already green lighted a third season. I guess they don't have any other comedy's and Melissa and Joey is about to die.

Melissa and Joey is not dead yet, so don't forfeit right now!

Baby Daddy is decent enough, but I don't see how this got more than 1 season when State of Georgia was the funniest thing they've done but it got cancelled pretty much right away.

apart from Baby Daddy, which I could take or leave to be honest, Melissa & Joey and Bunheads are the only other two shows on this network that're worth it anymore.

I think Melissa & Joey will resume on its series. The two main people in this show are doing better than in their own previous shows!

I do agree with state of Georgia! Still mad that got cancelled! I loved it! Raven Simone can do no wrong

I'm not watching a show that so accepts the "baby daddy" phenomenon. By giving that tragedy a show of its own, ABC glorifies and normalizes it. Over 40% of firstborn children in the US today are born out of wedlock. Let's not make it funny.

It's TV for crying out loud!! Where's your sense of humor? At least it is about something that people can actually relate to, unlike zombies and the walking dead or that awful crap. Its people like you that ruin good tv shows for people like me! And FYI... having a baby out of wedlock isnt a crime and it isnt horrible. A lot oF people would rather not get into the mess of marruage and some of us just arent that lucky to find true love. And face it, Crap ahppens. People have kids. Ive got 2 wonderful/handsome/very smart young sons and Ive never been married!! Wanna say something awful about me?

No, and I didn't say anything awful about you - or anyone in your circumstance - to begin with. I don't think it's a crime. I just don't think it's an optimal situation for either the parents or the children, and I don't think it should be treated as a comedy piece. As for the argument "would rather not get into the mess of marriage", I'd have to reply that if you're avoiding that commitment, you have no idea what kind of commitment a child is. Yes, life happens, but I think a show that says that situation is nothing to avoid is a mistake. And I don't think it's humorous at all.

Or they could renew the two shows whose seasons have ended and that I've actually heard of.

It's okay, it's not really that funny. <

Hopefully Bunheads will get picked up as well. Also this is rather odd, Season 2 hasn't aired yet and it's already getting a 3rd season? Very, very odd.

I liked Baby Daddy. I liked all the characters EXCEPT for the babydaddy one, I found him to be kind of a tool. The breakout character was totally Danny, his unrequited crush on Riley is cute and he's also ridiculously hot.

Ben was totally a tool yet I still find him oddly cute. I can't stand Danny and Tucker. They are crazy annoying. Really the only characters I genuinely like are the girls (Bonnie and Riley). It's an okay show but I won't go out of my way to watch season 2 unless it substantially improves.

I just hope Bunheads is renewed. I hope its not like the announcement for season 3 of Make It or Break It where ABC Family waited and waited until nearly a year after the second season premiere they announced it was coming back.

To answer your question, Baby Daddy does have it's moments. The show is pretty funny. I'm still trying to figure out what Tahj Mowry's character is. Everyone has a set chracter, his just floats at times.

As for 'Bunheads', it's odd that there is no news about it's renewal. It's a good show, so was 'Chloe King', and look where that got them. Hopefully they don't share the same fate.

You know in the future, ABC Family network needs to accept these three rebooted shows: Popular (2019), Maybe It's Me (2021) and Do Over (2021). If Greetings From Tucson wants to be rebooted, it should happen somewhere after 2024 without forceful production this time!

If Bunheads is not renewed the universe and all that we know will cease to exist. How's that for a reason to just do it...

Even though just about everyone overacts, this cast is still very likable. Also, the writing must have REALLY improved for the upcoming season.

In my opinion, the relative funniness of Baby Daddy is directly proportional to the amount of screen time they give to Melissa Peterman. I think she hilarious! They rest of the cast isn't bad, but Peterman makes the show for me.

We should know about TLG's fate sometime next month like last year. Meanwhile, PLL will outlive us all so don't worry.

I liked it okay, it sort of abruptly ended on me (I never thought that was a season or potentially series finale) and I always wondered how younger audiences were rooting in terms of Danny or Ben (I was for Danny heck even because he was acting more like a dad to Emma than Ben, her actual father was)

Renew "Bunheads" and "Switched at Birth"!! Those are two that I care about most.

As for "Baby Daddy", I really tried to watch the first season of it because I have a brain spasm that requires me to watch "Melissa & Joey" even though I know it's not the greatest show, and "Baby Daddy" is it's paired show. I managed to make it through the first five episodes and then before I knew it, two months had passed and the other episodes were still sitting there on my DVR. I have to be in the right mood for dramas, so if I leave one sit on my DVR, that's normal. But I don't have a single comedy that I watch that stays on there more than a week. So I decided to quit on "Baby Daddy". It's just not funny enough in my opinion.

Switched at Birth has barely started its 2A run, its not likely that reneweal will be talked about until it starts its 2B in the summer.

I wish networks would stop doing this. I wonder how much it kills a show's momentum. Switched at Birth's ratings are not the best to begin with. Shows like Liars loses me on its who-did-what-to-who-and-why plots having to wait so long in between breaks.

Bunheads hits and misses for me. If it gets axed, I doubt I'll miss it, but if renewed I will probably watch in hopes it better focuses and finds itself.
