ABC isn't formally announcing its schedule until next week, but news of its plans has reached the internet and spread like wildfire. The network has canceled six shows, but will be picking up 12 new series to fill some of the resulting holes.
Seven dramas and five comedies will get a shot on ABC's schedule next season. Here's what made the cut:
DRAMAS
Charlie's Angels: The remake of the classic '70s series will star Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor, and Annie Ilonzeh as the titular Angels. Hee hee, titular.
Pan Am: Set in the 1960s, this soapy primetime drama follows pilots and stewardesses (they weren't called the more politically correct "flight attendants" back then) as they join the Mile-High Club and apparently also live a double life as spies. Whoa, really? Starring Christina Ricci.
Good Christian Belles: Formerly titled Good Christian Bitches. This Southern-flavored drama is based on a series of books and is described as Desperate Housewives in Dallas. Leslie Bibb and Kristin Chenoweth star.
Revenge: A modern-day retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo that's set in the Hamptons.
Once Upon a Time: Follows a woman (Jennifer Morrison) who moves to a town where fairy tales might be real. From Lost writers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis. Also stars Ginnifer Goodwin and Robert Carlyle.
Scandal: Formerly titled Damage Control, which was a better name. This drama from Shonda Rhimes focuses on a female PR guru who fixes the tarnished careers of high-profile clients. Stars Kerry Washington and Henry Ian Cusick.
The River: From the creators of Paranormal Activity, this horror drama revolves around a crew that searches the Amazon for a missing celebrity adventurer. Then things get scary! And possibly wet!
COMEDIES
Last Man Standing: Tim Allen returns to TV in this comedy about being a man in a woman's world. Also starring Nancy Travis.
Apartment 23: Formerly titled the excellent Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23. In this comedy, a woman from the country moves to New York, where she ends up living with a party girl. Starring Dreama Walker, Krysten Ritter, and James Van Der Beek (as himself).
Work It: Bosom Buddies anyone? Two men pretend to be women to get jobs as pharmaceutical reps. Starring Amury Nolasco and Ben Koldyke.
Suburgatory: Like a reverse Apartment 23, a young woman moves from New York to the suburbs and discovers the 'burbs are scarier than the Big Apple. Stars Jane Levy, Jeremy Sisto, Alan Tudyk, and Cheryl Hines.
Man Up: Not really sure how this one's different from Last Man Standing (the two projects even shared the same name at one point). A comedy about three men (and their female counterparts) trying to live as "modern men."
Any of that sound good to you?

You spelled all the titles wrong...they all have to have "ABC's" in front of them.
Revenge could be good. I like the idea of a modern day retelling of "The Count of Monte Cristo" yet there are two failing that every rendition falls victim to. One, killing people is not the same as ruining their lives. Two, The Count is not trying to reclaim his life but enact his vengeance upon his enemies. If they can be true to the book in those ways at least, I think they can have something compelling.
Cannot believe they are cancelling all the good shows and replacing them with these...thay do not sound interesting at all!!!!
Cannot believe they are cancelling all the good shows and replacing them with these...they do not sound interesting at all!!!!
Pan Am, Apartment 23, Scandal and Once Upon A Time seem ok, time will tell...I'm rooting for James Van Der Beek & Ginnifer Goodwin.
shouldn't all shows should get 1 & 1/2 seasons... gives them time to develop a following and at the mid point of season 2, if not enough ratings, then cancel them and allow for tying up loose ends for the audience/fans... that way everyone would know to expect growth in first half of 2nd season or else andd if else, would get conclusion properly... would make the fans not so angry for getting #@itted out of closure, because we fans would get proper ending to the series... think about it broadcast network execs.... you guys are alienating your bread and butter with all these partial 1st seasons and changing the times off our shows then @@itcanning them after 8 or 12 episodes... crazy to expect us to invest ourselves this way over and over again... have some respect for us and you'll develop a BRAND loyalty base (loyal back to you for you considering US in your decisions) and really, we'd all know what to expect, even the actors and writers, but ESP the fans??!! think about it..moreless
Scandal has potential, but the rest… seriously? You cancelled Off the Map and Brothers & Sisters for regurgitations of lame, dated shows? The only good news is that ABC usually has decent mid-season replacements. If not, could you bring back some of the fabulous ideas you prematurely cancelled previous years? Please???
They are replacing "V" with this drivel?!??!?!
No all sounds pretty bad.
No, they don't sound interesting at all.
No, they all sound bad...
No Sci-Fi, figures
ALL really boring, will not watch, and who are these actors? Not heard about half of them.
they all sound dumb, pointless and very UN funny :( ugh ABC you are really screwing up big time aren't you!
Nope... not at all.
What utter crap! I'll watch "Castle". I'll miss "V". Other than that ABC sucks.
Those comedies suck! Before we know it, ABC will become the new ABC.
Those comedies suck!
Despite the fact that two of the three shows I watch on ABC are comedies, the dramas on this list sound more interesting. Then again, No Ordinary Family sounded cool too, but I got bored of it half way through the season. Once Upon A Time, if done right, could be interesting.... but even though they may be completely different, ABC did give up on Pushing Daisies. I like revenge plots in movies, so I'll probably give Revenge a try -- although it sounds quite a bit different than The Count of Monte Cristo. I think Charlie's Angels will be cancelled quickly, so I might not even watch an episode. Scandal and The River are questionable -- they seem interesting enough, but I could also picture them being very blah. As for the comedies, Apartment 23 sounds cool, I'll give it a shot. I like Tim Allen, but Last Man Standing sounds boring. Then again, the premise of Home Improvement wasn't exactly ground breaking either. I also like Amaury Nolasco, but I'm certain Work It wont work. Suburgatory has a good cast, so it might be okay.moreless
Sadly, none of it sounds good to me. I'm just REALLY grateful Castle was renewed. :) I was surprised to find myself following for ABC shows that CBS ones for the fist time in a while. I'm disappointed not to see Body of Proof on the list.
Revenge sounds interesting
ABC is really going after the female audience.
Never watching ABC again! They obviously don't care about the fanbase. Just the $$$. Don't bother getting involved with any of these shows. They won't be around long enough to remember the titles....
Is "Once Upon A Time" what the Fables pilot got turned into?
Pan Am and Apartment 23 sound interesting...
I'll Probably check out The River and Once Upon a Time. Might give Apt. 23 and Suburgatory a try, though the instant I hear a laugh track it's time to flip channels.
No more classic show remakes! Its been done to death, leave the classic shows alone. Watch how quick Charlie's Angels is going to get canceled. I only one I would probably watch is Revenge, other than that ugh!:( The heads of these networks need to hire better guys to find shows to put one tv because am looking at the new stuff that's supposed to be coming out this fall and its just horrible, horrible. And they see why some people don't watch tv anymore.
Once Upon a Time and Charlie's Angels look like the only 2 i'd watch. And i'm primarily a sitcom fan. Bleh
I knew they would take the *** out of those 2 titles.
The River
Hmm, not sure about reviving Charlie's Angels, but hawaii five-o is working out pretty well from what I hear so maybe they'll get lucky. I just want them to keep modern family and happy endings. That is my Wednesday!
At least happy endings got picked up.
when I read about brothers and sisters being cancelled I was disappointed and thought I wouldnt be watching any shows on ABC next season since B&S was the last show I watched on ABC. But I think I will give all the the dramas, except the river, a chance. and as far as comedies, i will give 23, and sub a chance.
Charlie's Angels seemed like a certainty so it's no surprise. I wonder if they'll try to run Pan AM against Playboy? Both are 60s period dramas. I also wonder if they'll be running Once Upon A Time against Grimm. Although it sounds a lot like Haven. I knew they would have to change the name on Good Christian B* if they wanted it get it on the air.
Hey, what the heck, who cares ??!! They will cancel them after one season anyway... so why should I even bother watching them ???
Suburgatory for Alan Tudyk. Once Upon a Time for Robert Carlyle. And possibly Last Man Standing depending on trailers. That's about it.
I'll probably check out Once Upon A Time and The River but that's it.
Some sound okay like apartment 23 and maybe suburgatory but the rest don't sound to good. Will better with you be back?
Only Scandal sounds interesting, if done right. Everything else looks kinda... awful. Especially Charlie's Angels, which I predict won't make it through the season.
Once Upon A Time - Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin AND Robery Carlyle - Wowzers. !!!! plus PanAm with Margot Robbie and Charlies Angels - looking good :)
