ABC Schedules Agent Carter and Galavant, Sets Return Dates for Grey's, Once Upon a Time, and More

Break out your Captain America costume and warm up your vocal chords, because ABC has finally announced premiere dates for Marvel’s Agent Carter and Galavant, as well as spring return dates for some of its most popular dramas.

Designed to bridge the gap between the fall and spring half-seasons of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter is set in 1946 and follows the adventures of Hayley Atwell's titular Peggy Carter as she works an administrative job at the Strategic Scientific Reserve (the precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D.) and attempts to clear Howard Stark's (Dominic Cooper) name after he's framed for selling his deadliest weapons to the highest bidder. The limited series will take over S.H.I.E.L.D.'s timeslot for eight weeks beginning Tuesday, January 6 at 9pm. Coulson and the gang will be back on March 3, when S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with all-new episodes.

In a similar gap-bridging situation, musical comedy Galavant will stand in for Once Upon a Time during the fairy-tale drama's winter break. From Dan Fogelman (Tangled), composer Alan Menken (Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast), and lyricist Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid), the half-hour series stars Joshua Sasse as a once-dashing hero who’s lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen) to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Beginning Sunday, January 4 at 8pm, Galavant will spend eight weeks chronicling its title character's quest to exact revenge and restore his “happily ever after,” airing back-to-back episodes each week. Once Upon a Time will then return on Sunday, March 1, possibly with Cruella De Vil and Maleficent in tow

ABC also announced a return date for all three of its Thursday-night Shondaland dramas: After their fall finales on November 20, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder will all return on January 29. (CastleResurrection, and Revenge are expected to return in early January.)

Here's the full list of dates to add to your calendar:

Sunday, January 4: Galavant premieres at 8pm

Tuesday, January 6: Marvel's Agent Carter premieres at 9pm

Thursday, January 29: Grey's AnatomyScandal, and How to Get Away With Murder return with all-new episodes at 8pm, 9pm, and 10pm, respectively

Sunday, March 1: Once Upon a Time returns with all-new episodes at 8pm

Tuesday, March 3: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with all-new episodes at 9pm

I'm looking forward to both, but mostly Galavant. Agent Carter's 40's setting is not as exciting to me.

Going to be watching for Agent Carter for sure. Will stay clear of Galavant though.

Is Galavant supposed to be a one-season thing like OUAT Wonderland, or is it a proper series with a chance to get renewed?

Well, I'm looking forward to Agent Carter, but that premise seems fairly pointless since we know Howard Stark goes on to have success afterwards.

Something in the early Galavant trailer made me think there was a non-zero chance I would like it (unlike Once Upon a Time). I'll check it out. I'll definitely be watching Agent Carter, even if it might seem a little odd or silly at times.

I'm looking forward to galavant, but 2+ months off the air for ouat is poor decision making. I almost didn't tune in for the season premiere this year and the story isn't compelling me to watch it live every Sunday as it is. I can't be the only person out there likely to lose interest over the course of a winter break that's only slightly shorter than it's summer break.

been looking forward to galavant since the trailer was released back-when. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try agent carter though I still feel a bit like agents of shield burned me and every other fan (that has standards) of the MCU.

I'm really looking forward to Agent Carter, and I might check out Galavant, but I'm not too sure how long it will hold me. I can deal with musicals for about one 2 hour movie, after that my attention's gone.

I made a minute into the sound of music then went outside and chopped up enough firewood to last for about 20 years.
