ABC sets Lost return date

Mark your calendars. The Others will definitely be back.

ABC has announced when Lost will return from its midseason vacation, when it leaves the schedule so the serialized drama won't have to air any repeats. In its place will be the new Taye Diggs drama Day Break, which will begin November 15.

Lost will return to complete its run on February 7. This will give the show a chance to finish up in style, with 16 unbroken episodes.

Day Break tells the story of a man (Diggs) who must relive the same day until he solves the mystery of who is going to kill him.

Lost has been having difficulty fending off CBS's Criminal Minds this season. Minds actually beat the ABC show in total viewers last week--by 30,000.

When does lost start and when does it return after the break?

They announced how they'd be doing things months before the 3rd season of lost so I knew going in that I'd only get a six episode sneak peak of the season and so I'm not feeling the frustration you guys are. They were pretty clear about how and why they were doing this.

They cut us off in the middle once, we can watch something else and then in february we get 18 uninterrupted episodes...it's a good deal considering that it was either this or the same rerun crap we got before. Of the two choices they made the right one.

Well, if you think about it, instead of watching 13 re-runs, you will watch a new series and then watch about 18 (maybe less) episodes of lost in a row without any re-runs. So i think it was a good move that the producers made..Lets just hope that all of Day Break will be worth watching, if not, there's Heroes and Prison Break and many more..

thank's god for prison break & heroes.. can't wait 13 weeks for lost without nothing!

A 13 week break??!!! Didn't Lost just start the new season? The rerun stupidity was bad enough, what a joke, I'm not going to subject myself any longer to this viewer abuse and frustration, think I'll take a permanent break from the series. Was a good show, to bad people don't want to work anymore. Wouldn't it be great if everyone got spring, summer and fall breaks in real life?...Hollywood morons.

Thanks goodness Heroes is here to keep us occupied! This will be a painful wait!

a 13 week break!!! It just started a month ago. Just started to get into the 3rd season. That WILL be a long break. But hopefully they'll keep their word and keep it unbroken for the rest of the season when it returns in february.

Lost started to be boring...

I think that the new show Heroes has taken it's place as the most popular.

In response to LincolnBurrows, they are interupting the season of Lost ONCE instead of multiple times like they do with most shows. The feedback the show was getting was that viewers were getting confused with where the show was with the reruns constantly breaking up the run of the show. So instead now it will take a break in November for a few months and return to run for 16 weeks uninterupted.

Personally I think its a smart move as now we will have another show to take our mind off the wait instead of reruns.

This is is the first season that Lost only has 22 episodes! I hope that doesn't mean the writers are running out of material. Day break looks crappy, I think ABC would get more viewers just showing Lost repeats.

These long breaks don't help the show... but then again who trusts Neilson in the first place?

Long break, from lost and prison break, Day break looks promising, lets see what happens, (reminds me of tru calling, but i like that so its kl)

Well, for those of us without DVRs or Tivos we are sol if we didn't get a chance at a rerun. If they were just smart enough to rerun episodes in ORDER, maybe it would have been better. So again we have to wait for the DVD release sometime after summer to catch up on things. But Day Break does look fun.

For about the last 10-15 yrs MOST one-hour shows only run for 22 episodes. The TV season (Sept-May) is approximately 35 weeks. You do the math people, they have to show reruns at some point. That's what every other show did before "Lost" came along. Why is it people are just noticing it now? And I think doing it this way is a good idea, give us a few episodes and then come back later. If they had done it the way "24" does it we wouldn't of gotten any new episodes til January. That would of been a 7 month break. I agree with Tony, seems like people are gonna gripe one way or another.

This season is way better. The wait is just too long! :)

I have had it with these critics bashing LOST!

tv.com really hates Lost, doesn't it? Every week it prints a story about how bad Lost is, or how close to cancellation it is, it's kind of pathetic.

The only way you can have a whole season in one block is to wait a nearly a whole year for the next season, but you will still moan, you can't expect them to make it 24/7, give them a break

Too long! Can't wait that long!

Your writers are wrecking a good show. THIS SMACKS OF ALIAS THAT DID SO WELL ITS FIRST 2 SEASONS THEN WAS PRE-EMPTIED SO OFTEN I quite watching it.. It'S time to rescue people from the otheir's and carry on with their owm life. IF NOT YOU WILL REPEAT HISTORY AND LOSE FANS

Ouch. This season it feels like it took three episodes just to more or less touch base with the main characters. Hardly seems like we're going to get anywhere with them before it's yanked away again. Too soon, too soon...

well i think that thats a long break but it will probably be worth it

I hope Lost will be of better quality when it returns.

Day Break sounds like a bore. Why do they keep coming up with new series for Taye Diggs? His last one didn't do so well.

Nielsen''s website has it as Criminal Minds winning, so I will go with the company who does the research thank you very much. LOST doesn't even apear on the top ten list, but Criminal Minds does.

I heard that the series finale will be a full blown motion picture. Has this be confirmed or denied?

will this season be the end of LOST?

I just think it is hilarious, all these people spelling gloom and doom for a show that not only remains in the top 20 continuously but also pillages Criminal Minds in the 18-49 demographic. Who cares about total viewers most ratings sites don't even include them anymore. Lost also remains at the top of iTunes top download for almost the entire week until it returns the following week. People in America are just overanxious and require a reality tv like program where every episode has something "happen."

I hope that the writers of Lost will use this break to step things up on the show, so that when it returns, something will actually happen before the season finale. In the meantime, I hope to enjoy Day Break immensely.

That's a long break for a show that's already having people lose interest. Breaking it like that is only going to shed more figures. Seriously, if I was in two minds by this point, I wouldn't bother going back after that break. Lucky me, switched off way back in Season 1.

On another note, it doesn't look good for Lost in the UK either. After a shift in time slots and days, the show has now moved to Sky One for the new season. Of course, the fans probably won't have that long break by the time it comes out over here, but the channel change has said it all. Sky One has a much smaller audience share than C4.

well I want to saee the new show and will miss lost but love criminal minds 2

it's too long of a break for such an amazing show i preferred all the repeats over this. it's just like another summer break but in the winter.

I suppose one season break rather than many, is better than how it was last season. I guess we're all just spoiled by how 24 goes for a "non-stop" season.

lost is starting to suck really bad....i cant wait for daybreak!!!that show looks sooo good

Nadiay123...remember that's what people said about Lost (referring to "how long can they keep that up?") ;-)

Breaking up the season into two parts gives the writers the chance to correct the mistakes made in the early 3rd season episodes and re-work the plot line into something that is both interesting and fast moving. The Problem with being off the air so long is that people are going to forget about the show and when it returns in Feb it will have to deal with all the American Idol hype.

well it seems nobobdy can be happy. last year everyone complained about re runs every few weeks for lost now that you have gotten six new episodes at the beginning and 16 WEEKS in a row at the end people still gripe!!! unreal. btw abc forced lost to be on at the beginning of the fall season. they would have rather done 22 straight episodes ala 24.

some site say Lost won and others say Crimanal Minds won, but it is neck to neck.

They're splitting up the season to give us more un-interrupted episodes? Does that make sense to anyone else? 'Cause I don't get it. How can something be un-interrupted if they're already interrupting it?

i hope lost won..
and day break looks odd.. how long can they keep that up

Criminal minds accually didn't beat Lost-- Lost won by less than a million, however.
