It was ABC's turn to stand in front of the firing squad at the Television Critics Association press tour this morning, and the network used the opportunity to unveil some premiere dates. Except the network omitted one show you've been wondering about.
New comedy Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, starring Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad) as the titular "B----," will premiere April 11 at 9:30pm after Modern Family. The show follows an innocent country girl (Dreama Walker) who moves to New York City and rooms with Ritter's street-wise, manipulative, and selfish con artist. James Van Der Beek plays a ridiculous version of himself. Now if only ABC could make that title easier to type.
Scandal, from Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes, will debut on April 5 right after Grey's Anatomy. The drama stars Kerry Washington as a top crisis management expert who can fix other people's problems but -- surprise! -- not her own. Henry Ian Cusick (Lost's Desmond) also stars, in case you need fodder for your Lost Actors: Where Are They Now? book.
With Scandal bumping Private Practice from its time slot to strengthen its launch, the Grey's Anatomy spin-off will get a four-week trial after Dancing With the Stars.
ABC refuses to commit to a comeback date for Cougar Town, which has been floating in the ether since the network announced its midseason schedule in November. ABC president Paul Lee at least gave some hint that the network hasn't completely forgotten about the show, saying it has a tentative return date of March. But with Apartment 23 taking over Happy Endings' slot (which used to be Cougar Town's) when that show ends, Cougar Town still has to find a new home. Could ABC be eying Work It's Tuesday-night time period for Cougar Town? And do Cougar Town fans want the show to air between Tim Allen's Last Man Standing and Celebrity Wife Swap?
Pretend you're an ABC scheduler for a second: Where would you air Cougar Town?

I would like so mutch to understand what's going on with ABC and Cougar Town...
Did somebody sleep with the wife of the schedule guy? What is going on. Cougar Town is a excellent show and alot's of peoples are looking forward to see season 3. Is there any problem with the shooting of the show? Seriously, if any one here know what is the problem, please contact me on my facebook to let me know. I really disaprove ABC on that choice. I think that Cougar Town is the best Show on TV. I feel like i'm a part of the cul de sac group. Looking forward for season 3 and HOPE season 4 and more. Next year ABC should have 2 days for comedies on Tuesday and Wednesday, and CBS should have Monday and Thursday all for comedies, if this would happen i would never move from my house on these 4 days.
Why ABC would give the green light to stinkers like Work It and Man Up (which is miles better than Work It) while keeping a great comedy on the shelf like Cougar Town is beyond me. With Work It likely to be cancelled shortly, I'm hoping we will see it pop up in the next couple of weeks. But what they'll probably do is run a repeat of Last Man Standing in that time slot until whenever it is in March that they decide to start CT.
Happy for the date on Scandal, but I want my Cougar Town BACK NOW!!!!!
It sounds like something that would fit perfectly on Sunday nights, probably about 7:30pm. But it's likely that it will wind up on Tuesdays at 8:30pm in a few weeks.
There's a date for Apartment 23, yes! As for Cougar town while I never liked the show and think is way overrated, I do feel bad for the people who like it and hope it comes back soon
Can't wait for Scandal, but what will happen to Private Practice?
Scandal doesn't sound that bad for something light to watch, but whenever I hear Shonda Rhimes' name spoken I back away slowly. After dumping Grey's Anatomy (from season 2-3 onwards) from a good show to an insane soap and the incredibly boring Off the Map, I think I'll watch the first episode, but I don't reckon I'll like it.
Sorry, I don't watch Cougar Town ;)
Apartment 23 sounds funny!
I think if and when Cougar Town comes back they should place it in Work It's time slot. And who are we kidding we all know its going to be cancelled.
ABC still hopes people will start tuning in to Work It, when that doesn't happen Cougar Town will get a date. I expect to see it on Tuesdays very soon
ABC should have tuesdays with Cougar Town, Happy Endings and Apartment 23 all together
Cougar Town is eating it on momentum, I really enjoy the show but I can't even remember the last few episodes now. ABC needs to commit, it's a show they can make a unique audience with, but not if they let it languish and die. I'm sure they will, too, probably by dumping it during the summer - it's an ensemble so it's likely expensive, and its name has always been a problem for both the network and audiences. It's like ABC is swinging wildly at every other new idea out there, but can't settle on this existing show.
Re: Happy Endings. What is meant by: When that show ends? Does this mean that the shows run is over and ABC's cancelling it or is it like season #1 with a short run of 13 episodes only to come back next season or later this season with more shows?
It is the latter. Season 2 will be back next year.
i'll watch Apartment 23 but I'm not going near Scandal, all of her shows are basically cut and paste versions of each other.
Well, Cougar Town is a funny show, so if I'm pretending to be an ABC exec, I guess I toss Cougar Town in the trash right next to Better Off Ted. (although they did redeem themselves somewhat by saving Happy Endings, there's also exhibit D, Work It.)
They really don't recogonize a funny show when they have one do they. If it doesn't get instant ratings sucess they bail on it instead of waiting it out which I don't get. If CBS pulled the plug that fast I wouldn't still have my favorite show HIMYM. Though they did it to me on The Class. Still miss that along with Better Off Ted and Cougar Town
I miss The Class, too. It was a funny sitcom with a good cast that could have been a hit. I was both surprised and pissed that CBS gave The Class the ax.
It doesn't matter. Just air it already!!!!!!
