After several years in hiding, Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cabot is getting ready to come out into the public once again. The once-regular Law & Order: SVU character will be returning for a guest arc on the popular NBC program, the network announced today.
Stephanie March has signed on to reprise her role for six episodes, which will begin on February 17. Cabot left the show in 2005 after joining the Witness Protection Program following death threats from a drug cartel. She briefly returned for a guest appearance in 2007 as a witness in a high-profile murder case and disappeared again under a new identity, and was part of Dick Wolf's short-lived Conviction.
"SVU is like an old flame," March said in a statement. "Every time I run into it I think, 'Hmmm.....what if?' I look forward to spending some time working with a production that has always been so rewarding for me."
Since leaving SVU, March has made guest appearances on 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy, and Rescue Me, and can be seen in Ricky Gervais' upcoming film This Side of the Truth.

Soo glad to see her on SVU as often as she can be there. The DA they have had this year is a miserable person in her role.

I loved alex on SVU! I remember when Casey started, I did not like her at first. But this new ADA Kim Grayleck is awful. Michaela McManus came straight from One Tree Hill, to play this roll. It's really hard to take her serious. I hope Stephanie March stays on. This season isn't the best ever, they need a boost!
I'm thrilled! This is seriously the best news for SVU since...well since forever actually!It'll be great to see Alex back. I've missed her a lot, especially since Casey has left us too. Hopefully we'll get some good A/O moments ;)

New ADA is horrible and they forgot about the courtroom in the last episodes. Cabot's return would be very good. I am excited that she is returning even for an arc.

I'm happy she'll be back for a few episodes...their new DA is terrible in comparison to either of the two who preceded her. Alex wasn't my favorite, but maybe she'll bring some spark to this season.

ya im excited. as long as they have a good story line for her! i started watching re-runs a few years ago on USA, so i was a couple seasons behind and the episode where she is thought to die i was soo sad! then she pops back up to tell olivia whats going on i was relieved haha

I'm not a fan of hers. I prefer Casey out of all the DAs that have been on the show. She's my favorite and I wish they hadn't let her go.

This sounds great! I just saw the 2007 ep again recently, and the last scene had the detectives celebrating and expecting her to join in but were told she already was gone. Wonder how this will be an arc rather than a stand alone ep. Don't really like the new DA all that much, so maybe it will be permanent.
