All My Children's David Canary Dies at 77

David Canary, best known for his work on the soap opera All My Childrenhas died, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The actor died of natural causes in an assisted living facility in Wilton, Connecticut on November 16, according to his family. He was 77.

Canary began his decades long tenure on the soap opera as Adam Chandler, one of the most fiendish and wealthy residents of Pine Valley, in 1984. A few years later he would start pulling double duty by playing Adam, as well as his mild-mannered and sweet twin brother Stuart. Canary played the twins for 26 years and racked up five Daytime Emmy Awards and 16 more nominations for outstanding actor.

Before becoming a legendary member of the All My Children cast, Canary played Candy Canaday, the foreman of the Ponderosa, on NBC’s BonanzaPrior to moving to New York to pursue acting, he came very close to becoming a professional football player, having been offered a spot on the American Football League’s Denver Broncos in their first year of existence. He retired from acting in 2010.

Canary is survived by his wife Maureen; children Christopher and Kathryn; brother John and grandson Donovan. His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association’s David Canary Memorial Fund.

I knew him as Frank Gusenberg from "The Saint Valentine's Day Massacre." (The 1960s Roger Corman movie) I'm very sad he's dead. He was a good actor.

All My Children was one of my favorite soaps and David Canary was brilliant in the dual role.

Never heard of him, but I hope the family is handling this difficult moment with Serenity. that being said... I only clicked because I read the headline quickly and thought it was saying something about the death of Black Canary... Oh, well, my priorities are skewed, I guess.
