Dermot Mulroney: Nobody kills a show faster. When will producers learn?

Holy shit, that MacGyver trailer actually looked worse than I expected, and I expected it to be terrible.

Training Day, nice color correction, not cheap and generic at all /s Can I have my 4 minutes back please?

Bull, hasn't this been done before on tv? I feel like there was another show that did this before, only without the stupid Dr. Phil connection.

Oh lord, Man with a Plan, no no no no no no no. This is horrid, generic, cheap sitcom.

The Great Indoors, being a multicam seems like it's really going to hurt, gives it a cheaper feeling for a premise that actually could work.

Kevin Can Wait, die in a fire. Kevin James gets another hot wife in a multicam craphat. Just stop it.

That Star Trek teaser made me want to punch the people involved, it looks like cheap garbage and all it is is some CGI planets. How do you screw that up so badly?

I never saw MacGyver in the 80s but that looked bad. Did it look bad? I didn't buy that lead in the least.

Training Day didn't look bad. But because of network constraints and CBS. My guess is that he is a dirtiish cop. But it will be serialised and he will go after bad people and so on. But I will give it a chance.

Bull, looked like House but for psychologists and lawyers.

I was excited to see CBS's Nancy Drew remake but apparently, CBS cancelled it for being "too female". Really?!? Is Trump working for CBS now? http://news.nationalpost.com/arts/television/cbs-nancy-drew-television-series-remake-starring-sarah-shahi-cancelled-for-being-too-female

While a few of these trailers look interesting, I worry that (like usual) the actual shows won't be anything like what's shown in the trailers. I will say this, though: a lot of these shows have actors I like in them (e.g. McHale, Paxton, Reshma Shetty, Odette Annable, etc.)

Why does every series have to be "high tech" now. They're usually the first shows to crash and burn b/c they're too expensive. I don't have much hope for APB on Fox(?) nor this Pure Genius. The one that makes fun of millenials seems like it could be enjoyable. I was born in '88 and refuse to be lumped in with these awful degenerates and quite frankly can't believe most of them are still alive, so this should be fun. None of these really appeal to me otherwise.

Macgyver seems like bad casting. The original Macgyver character was pretty dull too, but in this day and age we need more than just tricks and explosions we've seen hundreds of times since the 80s. It's all about the character's personality and this guy has nothing special. Lucifer is a good example of a character that can carry an otherwise bland show. I had the same problem with Hawaii 5-0. I stayed for the scenery and Grace Park but the the characters were no fun.

I like Training Day and Bull. But I think am on the side of folks that want more diversity in shows. These shows all white people and unfortunately America doesn't look like that anymore. Am giving CBS a D- for this fail.

Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, no I haven't heard for certain, but the fact that CBS has released its official fall schedule and Limitless isn't on it, coupled with the fact that the president of CBS said “Right now, we’re in discussions with other potential buyers”, doesn't instill a lot of hope for Limitless.

Damn... Limitless is refreshing compared to all these "reboots" or comics related series... OK it's not 100% original since it's after the film, but it's witty and really different. When I see how crappy the new shows seem to be :(...

Can't watch the trailers, since I'm not in United States. Don't understand why they would block other countries from viewing a tv trailer. It's a trailer, not a full episode. Very annoying.

Seeing the Training Day trailer is like looking at a Whopper commercial. Sure, it may look good, but that doesn't mean the real thing will.

** A ton better than ABC's line-up. **
...but that goes without saying. Still, a lot of this looks like the 1990s rebooted. ... anyway, my thoughts:

Star Trek: Rooster: Awesome. I really hope CBS All Abscess drops its advertising so I might subscribe to watch this. (p.s. 2017 is "year of the rooster" in the Chinese zodiac). I will watch at least the first episode.
Training Day: ... Um, kinda looks good? (Katrina Law, too!!!1) I will try this.
The Great Indoors: OK, hate me, I liked it, with or without Stephen Fry, but he's a bonus, IMO. (Though, yeah, the fake/"enhanced"/BBT-style laugh track is annoying.) I will try this.
MacGuyver: .. Wow, actual A-Team style unrealistic explosions that can flip big trucks (SUV)! ... But really, this one looks like it's playing to original fans of that era. I probably won't bother trying it.
Bull: ... Gives good trailer. Seems like I've seen several similar shows already. I won't try this.
Pure Genius: Techno-Emo-House? Ugh, magical technology. Dermot is a plus, but... I may try this.
Kevin Can Wait: It's not my kind of thing, but I think enough people will like it. I won't watch this.

Laugh track on Man With a Plan is also killing that show for me. And, I really like Matt LeBlanc.

I read that Jenna Fischer has left the show, though. No? Something about differences in the creative direction of the show?

Talk about extremes. We got trailers that give away the entire story and then Star Trek where all we get is logo. Not happy with either extreme

But, Star Trek is Must See TV for me, so I'll watch it. It would have to be TERRIBLE for me to drop it. And, when I say terrible, I mean, I watched every episode of Enterprise, so you know my bar is VERY low for Star Trek.

Enterprise had so much potential that was never realized. TNG and DS9 both had characters reminiscing about the early days of the Federation. A time before all the rigid restrictions. A time more like the old wild west. Phasers blazing.

Enterprise SHOULD have been that. But, it wasn't. It started out with seemingly more restrictions than Kirk had. It was so refined and restrained. And, there was practically zero searching the new frontier.

And their depictions of Vulcans? Criminal. T'Pal was a nothing but tightly bottled emotion only barely held in check.

And, really bad story telling.

So, I'm hoping this new series will get back to the great story telling of TOS, TNG, and the 2nd half of DS9.

The inane laugh track on Great Indoors will keep me from watching it. Seriously. The trailer had a lot of funny moments and I like McHale, but that laugh track ruined every joke. So, this is a NO GO for me.

Yeah, it's way worse than Big Bang Theory's laugh track and I didn't think that was possible. It's basically unwatchable like this.

Yep. I GET that laughter is contagious and can make you feel humor where you might not have on your own, but how about taking a few minutes to make the laughter sound natural to the on stage humor?

Every minor joke gets an immediate full throated burst of laughter. Ruins it.

I'm a sucker for futuristic gadgets so Pure Genius look like it could be good. I just hope we don't end up in season 3 or 4 with the main guy fighting to keep his mind. That doesn't sound fun at all.

Why oh why are they billing BULL as based on the life of Dr Phil??? STUPID.

Maybe Phil was a jury behaviorist, but NO ONE sees him that way. They only know him from Oprah and his TV show. And the is ZERO similarity to that Phil and the Bull character.

I predict the show will struggle for that tie-in, alone.

That said, the trailer was surprisingly interesting. Although, it seemed awfully stupid to reveal the big surprise and the verdict in a trailer.

I like Weatherly enough to give it shot -- Dr Phil, aside.

The trailer and premise for Bull intrigues me (though that trailer, like you said, did give way too much away); however, I cannot stand Dr. Phil, and if there's any mention of him or he's involved in the marketing for the show then I'm probably not going to watch it. haha

A lot of people feel like you do, so I really don't understand why they're even mentioning it's based on his life. Stupid.

BTW, I read elsewhere that many of these trailers were not mass marketing trailers but rather media trailers, so I guess it makes more sense for them to give away too much of the story.

The intent, I guess, was to get the media to talk about how good the show is and not about teasing the end viewer to watch.

(But, honestly, it's been a trend in movie trailers for a few years now. My wife and I usually sit through the previews at the theater and say, "Well, now we don't have to watch that one." because they tell the whole story.)

I HATE remakes that totally change the personalities of the main characters. The ONLY thin this MacGyver has in common with the original is long hair and clever, old school gadgetry.

The personality and attitude is SO NOT MacGyver.

BUT, it looks a TINY bit interesting, so I'll give it a shot.
