Amazon Orders Bryan Cranston's Con Drama Sneaky Pete to Series

Amazon has ordered a full season of Sneaky Pete, a new drama co-created by Bryan Badass Cranston and House creator David Shore. The pilot was released on Amazon on August 7 as part of its pilot program, in which user feedback plays a part in the pickup process. It's still currently available for viewing, and currently stands at a robust 4.6 out of 5 rating.

The series stars Giovanni Ribisi as a con man who assumes the life of his prison cellmate upon release, and tricks a family into thinking he's their relative while on the run from some bad guys who want him dead. While staying with the family, he joins their family-run bail bond business and catches guys even worse than himself. Also starring in the series are Margo Martindale, Marin Ireland, and Peter Gerety. Cranston also appears in a small role.

Another Amazon project, Casanova, is in good shape and Amazon has asked for more scripts. The drama stars Diego Luna as the infamous Lothario.

Miss the trailer for Sneaky Pete the first time around? Here it is:

There's no scheduled premiere date for Sneaky Pete yet.

Great pilot. Enjoyed the pace and characters. Wonder where they'll go with it. Interested to see more. ;)

I'm so happy this was picked up! I loved the pilot. I'm also happy to hear about Casanova's possible pick-up. I watched the pilot and liked it well enough, but didn't give it a great review. Then I woke up the next morning thinking about it and wanting to know more. I've been meaning to update my review but kept forgetting. Glad it may get a chance to grow!

I'm thrilled to hear that this is being picked up for series. The whole plot has such potential for clever scams and more than likely violence. Margo Martindale, I predict, is going to become a very important force (possibly a la Megs Bennett). She already, has Pete's number. The cast is great and as long as the scripts a cable quality rather than network, it's going to be great!

Maybe next spring (April/May)? They released The Man in the High Castle as a pilot in January, and it will start in earnest Nov. 20. Just extrapolatin'.

As good as it sounds, I want to see Bryan Cranston again as a main actor in something.

Just saw the pilot. I like the cast. But it's just too generic and feels like a run of the mill traditional network procedural. At the very end we see Bryan Badass Cranston for like two minutes doing his badass thing designed to make us want more.
It's working on me too. It's a pretty good move but it's not enough.
But it's not like you're watching Narcos on Netflix and the next thing you know you binge watched the whole series (it happened to me). If Amazon wants to beat Netflix at its own game. it has to do better. Nice try though.
Why not review the pilot TV.com? .

"If Amazon wants to beat Netflix at its own game. it has to do better. "

I dunno, I watched both Sneaky Pete and Casanova when Amazon was running the voting and answered the feedback poll pretty substantively. And of course people can just review the shows like any other which gives them plenty to analyze. I think Amazon is learning quickly how to balance investment and caution. I'm also looking forward to The Man in the High Castle (PK Dick adaptation) which piloted in January to good reviews and rolls out this November. We watched it recently and enjoyed. Bosch was great. Transparent is popular. Their catalog of non-original content is good too, and I find I'm watching Amazon on my Rokus lately more than I watch Netflix even.

The man in the high castle. I didn't know that. I have to pay more attention.
That book that the Germans win WWII. I'm a real fan of his work.
For some reason i liked the series Mozart in the Jungle. A little weird but ok. Nothing mind blowing but watchable.

We had no idea about tMitHC until it popped up in my recommendations. You can still watch the pilot. I haven't tried Mozart yet but it's in my list. Casanova was a mixed bag but they could make something out of it if they try. Preferred it to Davinci's Demons, to which I found it similar.

It was good to see character actress Margo Martindale again. With that other guy I see in everything, all with Heisenberg threatening everyone. What's not to like?

User feedback doesn't work. We all like different things. I'm reading on Variety "The show was initially developed for CBS..." and all of my enthusiasm went down the drain...

MARGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO &3333

This looks good. I think I'll check it out. I also liked Marin Ireland from The Divide which got canceled. But yeah this does look kinda good.
