American Dad! returning for fifth season

Fox's Sunday night lost a major player today, as the network decided it had had enough of King of the Hill and announced that the long-running animated show was going off the air for good.

But that doesn't mean the Sunday night shows are going to just sit around and mourn one of the fallen. Variety reports Fox has given the go ahead for another season of American Dad!, the current anchor to Fox's toonish Sunday evenings.

American Dad! debuted in 2005 and is the second Fox animated program from super-duper millionaire Seth McFarlane's production company, best known for the megahit Family Guy.

The showrunners, Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman, have also been shown a little confidence, locking up extended contracts to keep them around Fox.
