American Idol, Modern Family, and South Park

What to watch on Wednesday, May 25.

We're entering strange territory, everyone. All the normal shows are going on hiatus (some of them forever!) and new, weird ones are starting to show up in their places. It's like if your dad excused himself from the dinner table and Ronald McDonald came in and sat in his chair. Ugh, summer programming! Anyway, you may as well enjoy the last gasps of some of the stragglers:

SEASON 10 FINALE, 8pm, Fox
American Idol
If anyone tries to tell you that being a teenager is edgy, fun, and exciting, all you have to do is point out THIS pair. Who will win tonight, Scotty or Lauren? Answer: Zzzzzzz. Haha j/k they are very fun and interesting. Haha j/k again.

SEASON 2 FINALE, 9pm, ABC
Modern Family
In tonight's season finale, Jay's friends and family ignore his request for a simple birthday fishing trip and instead decide to throw him a huge party; Phil encounters his college nemesis at the mall; and Cameron runs into issues with Jay's birthday cake. Fortunately, camera crews catch EVERYTHING from multiple angles! #mockumentaryfatigue

SEASON 1 FINALE, 10:30pm, ABC
Happy Endings
This solid first season began at a wedding, and at a wedding it will end. When a slacker friend invites the gang to his wedding, the bride-to-be frets that Alex's presence might jinx her marriage. It's unclear whether we'll get another Travis Van Winkle-on-rollerblades cameo, but fingers crossed! (Oh wait, am I the only one who knows who that is?)

SERIES FINALE, 10pm, CBS
Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior
In a rare miss, CBS failed to create a successful new member of the Criminal Minds franchise, but many will fondly remember this one as a showcase for Janeane Garofalo, serious thespian (i.e. she was surprisingly great!). Anyway, in tonight's final episode, the team will search for a serial killer who shoots people in crowded areas. Man, serial killers can be such jerks sometimes.

10pm, Comedy Central
South Park
Tonight Cartman fills a vital need for his community when he starts a new organization: the Crack Baby Athletic Association.

9:30pm, TLC
Extreme Couponing
My favorite part of this highly watchable series is the tension each episode wrings out of whether or not a couponer will have to pay an extra couple bucks at the register. Those aren't very high stakes! Tonight we'll follow Amber and Amanda, the latter of whom will try to beat her own grandmother's couponing record. Profitable nerdiness just runs in their family, I guess.

Modern Family, Happy Endings, and LLS w/ Craigy Ferg. As for summer programming, I think most of the summer shows I watch are on USA.

Modern Family, Cougartown, and Suspect Behavior. I'm gonna miss Suspect Behavior. I really liked it. Looks like these are the last of my season finales. Oh well, I have a lot of summer programming to look forward to on USA, TNT, SyFy, HBO, and Showtime.

I'm sure this isn't the last time we'll see Sam Cooper and the Red Cell team. They'll probably pop up in Criminal Minds from time to time. They're good characters.

The Middle, Cougar Town (x2), and Happy Endings, Dave Salmoni on Conan and Matthew Morrison on Chelsea Lately. Happy Endings isn't two episodes tonight, Cougar Town is two and HE is only 1 and I only know Travis Van Winkle as the douchey guy in the first Transformers movie.

Happy Endings ending already? :( I guess they are showing 2 episodes back to back again, which I never understood, making the season a total of 13 episodes. At least there will be a second season. Also watching South Park and Conan

Modern Family and then no more network TV until September. Luckily I still have the remaining episodes of Game of Thrones, Treme, and The Killing (which I can take or leave) plus 8 returning shows and 1 new one that will start to premiere at the end of June.

Mod Fam and Middle & Happy Endings...ABC runs Wednesdays. And summer should be good. Game of Thrones is still on till June,as is The Killing, then True Blood and Breaking Bad(!), & Falling Skies looks good. Summer is great for cable, which is better than network anyways.

Summer doesn't seem all too bad. Breaking Bad, Pretty Little Liars, White Collar, Men of a Certain Age, The Big C, and Weeds (although this is the only show I haven't watched yet and am trying to catch up) will be returning. Hopefully Falling Skies (and all other new cable shows) are good.

Nothing. I'll be catching up with Modern Family (Finished Season 1. Starting Season 2.), Mad Men, Weeds, and Sons of Anarchy over the summer.
