Amick nabs Freddie role

Former Twin Peaks star Mädchen Amick has joined the cast of ABC's new fall comedy, Freddie, which is loosely based on the life of Freddie Prinze, Jr.

Prinze, Jr. stars as a bachelor chef who invites the women in his family to move in with him after their lives are shaken by the untimely death of his brother-in-law. His sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, and niece slowly begin to take over Freddie's home and attempt to steer him through a tumultuous love life.

Amick replaces the booted Megyn Price (Grounded for Life), who starred in the series' pilot as Allison, Freddie's flighty sister-in-law. No reason has been given for Price's recasting.

After rising to fame on the wave of Twin Peaks' success, Amick went on to star in Stephen King's movie Sleepwalkers and the CBS drama Central Park West. Since then, she's appeared in TV shows such as Gilmore Girls, ER, Jake in Progress, and Joey.

Freddie is set to premiere at 8:30pm ET on Wednesday, October 5.
