And the Final Episode of Lost is Named...

May 23 is circled in red ink on Lost fans' calendars, as that's the day we've been fearing and looking forward to: the Lost series finale. With the show heading into its home stretch, fans are eagerly devouring anything that may even resemble a clue to the show's many unanswered mysteries.

The latest hint comes in the form of the series finale's title, which was just released. So without further ado, I present you the name of Lost's final episode. Brace yourselves, because here it comes.

"The End."

Yep, that's it. "The End." Draw your own conclusions about any clues the name may hold, but I think it simply means the show is ending.

Let's hear your thoughts, guys. Me, I don't really care all that much, it's just the name of a show, but someone out there has to be disappointed.

OMG!
I can't believe the series finale of Lost airs on my birthday!
That day will be awesome...
And speaking about the title, I find it to be fitting, even if it hasn't a double entendre

J.J. Abrams has his reputation on the line. It will end with a bang. I read somewhere that they had less story for the last two seasons. So they had to improvise the show to stretch it out. Anything that is left unanswered will be in a book. "Lost Encyclopedia " available at Amazon. There is also a rumor that there will be a complete DVD of all the seasons with a lot of information. But all will be revealed by the end of the show. The "End" is simply the end of the show.

i think they have no idea what they are showing...!!! 1st of all when the serise started i was very much amazed by how they actually creating an awsum story... but after third season i am loosing interest. still today it was completely unable to change the course of my interest to a positive phase. the story of black smoke, the reason for them to be on the island, the time travel everyhting made the show more worst. i really didnt expect it to turn to a supernatural thing... for that we have enough serises....they should have been better. one thing i can say ... they started to create a history and halfway through they are lost and they actually kill everything. no one will remember this serise as legendary........ever......but the sad thing is they could have done it....

I think it means the end of Jacobs Chapter. The show is basically a twist on the pandora story. Evil (or some version of it) is trapped on the island being guarded by Jacob. Jacob knowing he cannot do this job forever has been trying to find a replacement just in case of this eventuality (as we noticed Jacob isnt immortal just has a really long life)

The 'man in black' being the 'evil' wants to escape and spread his evil. Since Jacob is now 'dead' The man in black has free reign and a replacement needs to be found to restore balance. Hence, Jacobs chapter is now at an end and a new chapter will begin

I think that (as someone previously said) Jack will be the new Jacob. The man in black will 'die' and the evil will need another vessel and maybe Sayid, Ben or Sawyer will be his replacement. As for the assistant...Kate, Hurley or Richard will be good candidates. Then the new chapter will begin.

skaters, I believe a first season ep about jin and sun was titled "... and found", so i dont think they would tap that well again.... the end is fine and fitting, so be it...

All i will say about the matter is that the show BETTER NOT leave us hanging just like how Quantum Leap or The Prisoner ended.

I think that the episode before the final one has a more interesting name as in "What They Died For"... Either this will bring a really huge cliffhanger for the final episode, or answer our many questions before the final comes... Maybe and most probably the both... :)

Yea , whatever it is called, I just feel it will be the grand finale!

Oh, come on it has meaning for sure. Many episodes titles play on words. They have double meanings.

... Why call it anything else?

I think it should have been called found or something like Lost and then the last episode be called found.

Can't say I really give a crap what it's called. It should be epic though

i think maybe D&C are just trying to avoid speculations.... let\'s be honest, LOST fans are waaaay to creative, even if they name an episode "a"; Fans would start to create all these crazy theories, and i\'m sure it\'s going to happen with this one too.... maybe they wants us to think it\'s lame, but they\'re just trying to keep the finale a secret.....

I like the title and it0's the trueth, "Lost" will end with "The End".

LOL, I thought it was called "That's It?" from the caption of the pic. That one would sound better.

it's should be "sorry come back again" :P

Let's hope it's a fake name ( I've read on the web dozens of speculative titles for the finale that were waaaaaaaaaaay better, and logical at that ) . If it's not, well ... hopefully they'll more imaginative for the story than its title.

pathetic name for episode but i hope episode itself will be interesting and "answering"

well, we know that the show is going to end. the title is unneccary.it is quite simple. they shoulda come up with sometihng else!

I've been waiting for the end. I hope it's good.

Too lame for me, but it is what it is. it might be the weaker name of an epsiode in the entire Series.

I think the title should be The Age of Kali Yuga since the Dharma Initiative is related to the hindu religion, the age of Kali Yuga is the prophecy of the end. That's just me though.

Actually, that fits with the entire show. Stating the obvious while still keeping everything a mystery. Yep, definitely fits with the show. At least they're not changing their attitudes?

Thi is "Really?" with Carol and Kate

I agree i don't think it means anything special a simple the story is ending nothing is going to happen for a long time until someone is brave enough to try and recreate it
Reply

It's better than "series finale"
Reply
Flag
It doesn't really matter what the name is, as long as the finale is great and satisfactory to most fans.

I really like it. It's simple, it doesn't give in to any urge to be witty, it's definite. It fits perfectly with Jacob's "It only ends once", as well as the season 4 premiere "The Beginning of the End".

I don't think it's amazing or anything but it obviously refers to not just the end of the show but the end of the sort of chess game that has taken place on the island. And as others have already stated, the game only ends once. Every other time it's ended with a stalemate and the game begins again. This time it seems like there will be key pieces left that will allow a side to win. I'm kinda glad it's not some long-winded pretentious title that tries too hard. It's just exactly what the episode is.

I don't care too much as long as the episode is good.

Is it the title for sure? Maybe it's just a temporary one, until we find out MIB's name. Then the title will include it.
The name of the episode before it is perfect, I wish this one was too...

Think of it this way...Jacob says to MiB, "...but it only ends once."

Means the series is ending and the battle is over.

Actually, I'm quite relieved. The fact that it's called The End suggests that it is actually going to come to some sort of conclusion. I was quite worried, given Lost's track record, that the last episode was going to be called something like "The Beginning" or "The Start" and it would leave us with more questions posed than ever before. That would be annoying.

A few things came to my mind after hearing it. The first being "WTF? That's it? Worst name for a finale ever..." After that initial disappointment wore off, I tried thinking of what other meanings it could have, instead of generically stating that this is the end of the series. And the answer I came up with is that it refers to the end of the game. Whichever way it ends. Whether it ends in humanity proving themselves ("It only ends once. Everything befor that is just progress."), or the end of the island and/or the world. And it could have some other meaning we don't really know yet. Either way, it is admittedly a very bland, generic title. Hopefully the episode is much more interesting than the title. Though I don't think we'll have to worry about that. :P

Are you freaking kidding me? I have to admit that I am a pretty hard cord LOST fan, so count me in as disappointed! "The End" is sooo freaking lame. I mean were they half asleep when they decided this? I read the comments below, and I can see how it could refer to the end of this mysterious journey on the Island and how Cuse and Lindelof said they are done with anything LOST related after the series finale airs. But still, it sounds like they just gave up on coming up with a creative name. I mean it's the series finale for crying out loud!

I think everybody will Die as the Fact will Come as the Island in reality is hell as it was hinted in E09 and they had already died in that Second Plane Crash or something like that
Reply

I think it will be the end of one of the realities that we are watching now.

at least it isnt "Found"

Sure it's not that original, but who cares as long as the actual episode is awesome, which I hope it will be.

The end to MiB. He will finally be proven wrong by one of the candidates, they will know what the difference betweeen what is right and what is wrong without Jacob having to tell them and step in. Courtesy of Ab Aeterno, this was completely laid out by Jacob himself to Richard. As far as what happens, I think it would be too simple to have MiB just die, but it wouldn't be good for him to get off the island either so who knows how that will end up. MARK MY WORDS, JACK will be the candidate because he now has what it takes, and thats the bottom line....cause Jacob said so!

Pretty silly title, if you ask me. But most LOST episode titles are pretty lame anyway (not that the episodes normally are), so I'm not very surprised.
