Anna Nicole Smith paternity battle ends

The results of a long-awaited DNA test have finally determined that Larry Birkhead is the father of the late Anna Nicole Smith's seven month old daughter.

The paternity of Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern has been heavily contested since the February 8 death of her mother, with several men claiming to be the father of a baby who could inherit a fortune from Smith's late husband, a Texas oil baron who was many years her senior. Baby Dannielynn is currently in the Bahamas under the care of Howard K. Stern, Smith's companion and Birkhead's nemesis in the paternity battle.

While Stern said that he is "very disappointed" with the test results, he vowed that he still loves the child, that he will welcome Birkhead into his home should he wish to visit Dannielynn, and that he believes Birkhead should be granted full custody of the child.

"My baby's going to be coming home pretty soon," Birkhead announced.

Other men who claimed potential paternity include O.J. Simpson; Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt; and Smith's bodyguard, Alex Denk. Smith's estranged mother, Virgie Arthur, suggested that Dannielynn could have been conceived using sperm frozen by Smith's late husband, J. Howard Marshall. Arthur had also sought custody of Dannielynn.
