The Tribune of Nassau has run front-page photos showing former Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith in bed with Bahamian Immigration Minister Shane Gibson. Smith died Thursday in Florida at age 39.
The newspaper published two photographs, taken last year, showing Smith and Gibson lying in bed fully clothed, embracing one another. Last year Gibson came under fire when he allegedly gave special treatment to Smith and her application for Bahamian residency.
Smith's lawyer and companion, Howard K. Stern, said the images, along with other items, were stolen from Smith’s place of residence on the island. A Stern spokesman said today that police have recovered the stolen property and that anyone who disseminated the photos would face legal action.
Stern is attempting to keep Smith’s mother, Vergie Arthur, from seeing Smith’s daughter, Dannielynn.
''She just despised that woman,'' Stern said on Entertainment Tonight. “As long as I have one breath left in my body, that woman will not see Dannielynn.''
Last week, Arthur suggested to ABC's Good Morning America that Stern may be somehow responsible for Smith’s death, along with the death of Smith’s 20-year-old son Daniel, who died suddenly in the Bahamas last September.
''I do have a problem with her being with Howard Stern,'' Arthur said. “He was there when both of them died. Now I only have a granddaughter left...and I'm afraid for her.''
Dannielynn’s paternity is now being claimed by three men: Stern, former boyfriend Larry Birkhead, and the 59-year-old husband of 90-year-old Zsa Zsa Gabor, Prince Frederic von Anhalt.
The New York Daily News reports that Smith may have gotten pregnant using frozen sperm from her late husband, the 90-year-old oil baron J. Howard Marshall II.
