Another Original Heroes Cast Member Is Joining Heroes Reborn

Heroes Reborn is welcoming another Heroes alum into the fold. Sendhil Ramamurthy has signed on for a guest arc on the new series, reprising his role as Dr. Mohinder Suresh, a man who once turned into a giant lizard-type creature. During Heroes' original run he was integral in identifying potential for latent "abilities" to surface, helping assemble the group of heroes.

Ramamurthy joins previously announced returning original cast members Jack Coleman, Masi Oka, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Greg Grunberg. Zachary Levi, Dylan Bruce, Robbie Kay and Ryan Guzman round out the new crowd of characters.

Ramamurthy recently appeared as a series regular on Covert Affairs and Beauty and the Beast. He has also just been cast in the new Stan Lee superhero drama Lucky Man, set to air on the UK's Sky 1.

Deadline first reported the news.

Heroes Reborn will premiere this fall on NBC.

Can't have heroes without Hiro shouting, "I suck!"

He was my favorite character in the first go-round. I am glad he is coming back, there is something about him that brings legitimacy which is important in sci-fi. Sometimes shows don't work purely because the actors cannot carry it off convincingly.

So excited for this! I am hoping this is a hit. The way Heroes ended was mehh. Loved the online comics though but it wasn't satisfying.

Ughh why are there spam comments on tv.com?? Such losers.

At the end we will find out it was all a troll, and we get a re-run of Heroes season 1.

Reborn.. More like re-bored.

Obviously, I didn't care much for Ramamurthy's character, didn't he turn into some kind of weirdo mutant and then... I can't even remember.

It hardly seems like a recipe for success, to just cast whoever they can (the despo actors who haven't done much since the show ended). Zachary Quinto, Adrian Pasdar, Ali Larter, Milo Ventimiglia and a couple others would make a much more exciting Heroes Reborn.

Um, this one kind of worries me the most of the recasts. Suresh started as our resident human and then just went so off the rails that as soon as I saw the scene was in a lab I groaned. I actually kind of thought he died. If he can return to just being human...I mean, currently Ravi on iZombie is doing a better job in a similar role and, you know, wants to stay human.

Well, looks like it is going to be less Heroes "REBORN" and more Heroes "Same Shit, Different Year"...

Much more interested in this new British Stan Lee project. Why is this the first I am hearing of it?

This is getting weird now. If it becomes 50% previous characters, will be a faux-season 5? I hope Tim Kring does not completely destroy his great idea for a second time (though, we should already have had memories of everything post-season 1 or 2 removed from our minds).

The problem here will be connections. For example, Hiro but no Ando. No Claire but her father. Won't he be making reference to her? And what about the cliffhanger Claire left us with? Swept under the carpet? This should have been a new show, or not.

As Yoda would have said, "Do or do not. There is no half and half".

After Touched, Kring proved he has no idea whatsoever about how to keep momentum going. Heroes S1 was a fluke. Touched S1 was a fluke. Give him time and he shows that he's just clueless with his own productions~.

I agree completely. But I don't think season 1 of Heroes was a fluke. Kring has great ideas. He and the network just need to let someone else run the show.

Agreed, he should just create and then let others showrun.

Ugh I know that show really screwed itself. They just kept recycling parts of a plot. We all know that humans finding out about the powered people ended really badly, than a season later Claire is all "Oh I have a great idea, lets show everyone our powers" like wtf?
My theory is still that the idea of a place being massively destroyed and Sylar becoming president was going to be unavoidable, because in every season something like that seemed to happen. They could have just had a quick tv movie to finish everything off. Sylar could become a good guy and him and Claire could have that adorable Noah child, hell it could have taken place well into the future since Sylar and Claire are immortal. We could have gotten little flash backs showing how everyone went about their lives and died centuries ago. I don't know it would be ridiculous regardless, but they should have ended things properly with their original characters. Now they are bringing back all the characters I didn't even like the first time around, it is just sad.

My expectations for this have now hit rock bottom. I'll still give it a go but with the baggage being tagged onto this I'm expecting a train wreck.

I just threw my hands in the air and gave up,when I saw "another original Heroes..." And then to see it's Suresh..."mai faathers research". I know these people are guest starring, but still I can't see,how this show will work. Unless Hiro timetravels and all original cast memebrs pop in same arc.

I know, isn't it only like 13p mini-series to "finish" things or something. Like how are they having all these guest character arcs?

Ugh, first Matt Parkman now Suresh? Why are they bringing back the crappy characters? I would prefer Ando to either of these two, Hiro would be lost without Ando!

I'm still waiting to find out if James Kyson will return. Hiro won't be the same without Ando by his side.

Too afraid to start fresh, The old characters have already run their course. I gave this show every chance when it was on..but if the return premier doesn't blow me away..I will be one and done!

This is getting beyond ridiculous. As minimally interesting as Mohinder Suresh was in the first season, he is one of the LAST characters they should be bringing back if they want to gain a fresh start. That whole super-cockroach thing or whatever he became and the Hero serum were shark-jumping at its finest. How on earth do they think they can sweep that fiasco under the rug by bringing this character back?

A giant lizard-type creature?!? Didn't Suresh become more of an insect-type being after testing an experimental serum on himself? He had increased strength, could crawl on walls, and at one point, was encased in a cocoon. Not exactly lizard-like if you ask me.

I had psyched myself up to see Zachary Levi leading a whole group of new Heroes, but it confuses me that a flood of old Heroes are returning, too. I don't want the show to drown. :-(

It's almost like they're intentionally bringing back most of the worst possible characters who killed the series the first time around, do they want this to bomb as hard as possible, or do they honestly think most of these characters they brought back actually served some useful purpose?

I would've actually preferred characters such as Tracy, Micah, hell even Emma or Angela Petrelli. could've all been interesting stories to tell since their characters got the shit end of the stick the first time around. But if that's the case, then Mohinder certainly fits the bill

Sure the show might suck, sure they're bringing in some of the Old Crew to lure more past fans, but am I psyched to see Heroes again? If it's like Season 1 then YES!

Double-edged sword- they may lure past fans, but keep in mind the show was cancelled with good reason. There's a good chance they will turn past viewers away by bringing along that 2nd, 3rd, and 4th season baggage.

If they somehow manage to recapture the feeling from Season 1, then sure, that'll be great! But the odds are against them, because it doesn't seem like they've learned from their mistakes.
