A pair of television and film actors had health concerns revealed this weekend, but both are expected to fully recover.
Christina Applegate's publicist announced that the Samantha Who? actress is being treated for breast cancer. The cancer was discovered at an early stage during a standard MRI, and was first reported by Extra.
"Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery," Applegate's publicist said.
Comedian Bernie Mac had a greater scare this weekend, when he was taken to a Chicago hospital for complications from pneumonia, says The Chicago Sun-Times. Mac was apparently in "very, very critical" condition on Saturday, according to a family friend, with some outlets presumptuously reporting that the actor had died.
But Mac is allegedly responding well to treatment, and may be released soon.
"It is a very horrible rumor," Mac's publicist Danica Smith told the Sun-Times in response to the erroneous reports. "It is absolutely untrue. Nothing has changed from yesterday."
In addition to starring in The Bernie Mac Show, Transformers, and the Ocean's Eleven movies, Mac is scheduled to headline the new Fox comedy Starting Under, about a divorced dad who moves in with his son.
