Given the way things went between Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz and the network that canceled his beloved comedy, the following news may come as a bit of a shock--but that's Hollywood for ya.
Fox has ordered a "table read" for Hurwitz's next project, Sit Down, Shut Up, says The Hollywood Reporter. The potential show is an adaptation of the Australian comedy of the same name that aired earlier this decade, but Hurwitz's version would be animated.
Sit Down, Shut Up is about seven people who work at a high school. The group all has other aspirations and desires, leaving the education of the students a nonpriority. If Fox likes the table read--which is a potential cast simply reading lines from a script--the network will order the project straight to series. There have been no announcements on potential cast members.
Fox canceled Arrested Development, Hurwitz's critically praised comedy starring Jason Bateman, in 2006 after a three-year run. The show built a strong following and won six Emmys, but never impressed in the ratings.
Hurwitz has gone abroad for inspiration before. In 2006, he tried to import the British sitcom The Thick of It. The show never made it past its pilot episode.

I'm strongly opposed to remakes of any kind, but especially to remakes of other English-language television shows. There isn't even a language barrier to be overcome and generally relatively few cultural ones.I'll give it at least one chance based on my previous love of AD, but I'm wary and ideologically opposed to it.
Ahahha i can't believe it!!!Sit Down, Shut up was a great show?"1:He's in there...He's in there2: We heard you the first time1: You must of, cause you didn't laugh"ahahahah, ... or something to that effectLove it! Hope it works... but animated?
Never heard of it.
I loved Sit Down Shut Up :P it was on in 2001 I thinkBut animated sounds kinda crappy, but I shall watch cause i love AD
They made a huge mistake... awesome!!
They should just bring back Arrested. They've made a huge mistake by canceling it.
Yea me neither, but i remember Hey Dad, the only 'known' Australian sitcom.
Also Australian... never heard of that show either.
I'm Australian and I don't even remember this show. Most Australian comedies are awful. I'm sure Hurwitz will do a better job with the concept.
never watched the show
