Before The Muppet Show, There Was The Wizard of Id (VIDEO)

In 1969, Jim Henson shot a pilot for The Wizard of Id, based on the long-running comic strip of which he was a big fan. The show never made it to air, but now five minutes of it have materialized on YouTube. A Charlie Brown Christmas it ain't, but it's still worth a look for Muppet aficionados. And who isn't one?

Not enough material? In 1969 Parker & Hart already had around 5 years' worth of daily newspaper comic strips written for "Wizard of Id"....

I've saw it a few days ago because I'm subscribed to the Jim Henson channel on YouTube. I think the five minutes is the whole pilot. It's obvious that there's not really enough material for a proper series.
