The only requirements are that the actress appeared on a program that aired in 2012, she acted well, and that she is a she. (Click here to weigh in on the "Best Actor" categories.) Feel free to add your own nominations using the write-in feature, and please make sure you nominate actresses in the correct poll (dramatic actresses in drama, comedic actresses in comedy). Now get clicking!

I am extremely surprised that the almost all the Grey's girls got into top 10, but I am also very happy to see that as I am a huge GA fan :D. Anyhoo, that said, this vote is really not about who are the 'best' or 'most talented' actresses but the most beloved and favourite actresses and it goes to show that all the Grey's girls are extremely popular :)

Lauren Cohan should have been on this list, her performance on TWD is great, and she did a good job performing on Chuck and TVD too.

Yeah, I just looked up the four I've never heard of. Apparently they're *all* on Grey's Anatomy. Since I can't even imagine myself watching a hospital soap, I guess I'll never find out if they're good.

Thanks for pointing out that I could have found out who they are with some quick research. I would never have figured that out. /sarcasm

Yeah, i'm not Sheldon, i unsterdan sarcasm.
But, you're welcome ! :D

Jessica Capshaw is really great this season. Sara Ramirez is great since 2-3 seasons, i think.
But i'm ok with you, Jennifer Carpenter is better than lot of girls.
For me Jen > Ellen Pompeo, Ginni Goodwin, Emily Vancamp, Emilia Clarke, Jen morison and Anna Torv (who i love by the way).

PS : sorrry for my english, i'm french.

How you can judge if you don't watch the show ?
By the way, for me Jennifer Carpenter is a lot better that Anna Torv even if i love Anna Torv. You can't judge with your "better actresses" because no one is right or wrong.

I'm looking at most of these lists and I'm thinking "those are some very good choices", but the women's drama category is seriously messed up. In what universe is Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Emily VanCamp, Stana Katic, Emilia Clarke and *four* women I don't even know who they are, better than Jennifer Carpenter? Have you guys even *seen* Dexter?

Morrison and Goodwin are hardly acting at all. They're good enough at what they do, but none of them is an exceptionally good actress. Emilia Clarke is better, I think, but she's not even my favorite on that show. I think Maise Williams is better.

Lana Parilla and Anna Torv are both good, but 5 to 6 times as many votes as JC?! Am I in the twilight zone? I think I must be, because I have no idea who the top two are. I hope that means that there's still a good show that I don't know about.

I do think that Carpenter is good, but I think Torv is better. That said, I agree with mostly everything you said. People choose the best actresses based on their favoritism and not on objective talent (which is actually quite subjective in itself).

By the way, those unknown women are from Grey's Anatomy. And yes, the shouldn't be at the top of this list. Grey's does have a lot of viewers and they think that their constant emotional dramas are good acting. I've seen like 6 or 5 seasons of that show before I quit, and the characters and dialogue are written in such a way that it forces emotion down your throat so a lot of people think that the work done by actors is good. It's mainly just 'be sad' or 'be happy' but always be energetic and move fast down the halls of the hospital - that is all.

Yeah, I guess the actors/actresses/shows that more people watch are more likely to end up near the top of these lists. But then I don't understand how Fringe is doing so well in all categories. Another thing that I don't understand is why the drama actresses get TEN times as many votes as the comedy actresses when they're not even competing against each other. Some of those comedies have a lot of viewers too. There's a lot I don't understand here. I wonder if someone ran a campaign at some much bigger web site to encourage people to go over here and vote specifically for the women of Grey's Anatomy. If something like that has happened, then this list (actresses, drama) would make sense, in the same way that the list of the world's 100 hottest women with Steven Colbert at #69 makes sense.

Katey Sagal remains a constantly solid performer despite it being an awful season of Sons of Anarchy. Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson are giving powerful performances as well.

For Comedy I cannot think even one girl that actually makes me laugh. :(

Nov 24, 2012
You should check your logic patterns. They don't seem to work correctly.

See, I said "females on that list don't make me laugh". From that you inferred that I never laugh.

So your logic jump was:
1. Comedians are female only
2. Those females on the list are the only people alive that are funny.

As I said, you should re-check your logic patterns, they are extremely faulty.

Claire Danes is a given anyway so I'll just move on to the others. Lena Headey and Maise Williams deserve recognition for their performances this year, since they were incredible. Emilia Clarke didn't have a whole lot to do this year, but her performance on the finale was great though. Jennifer Carpenter gets better every year on Dexter, and Jessica Lange is killing it again on AHS. I always have a soft spot for SoA ladies, but they've been too damn annoying this year. My dark horse would be Kristin Bauer on True Blood, as she was really great (particulary early on) this year and still has most of her fans unlike most characters on that show. Her dynamic with Tara was the closest thing that show had to greatness this year.

"if you really think so." dude your comments don't reflect proper context. you have no continuous verbal-tense. Allison Brie is an absolutely poor nominate for best comedic actress. She is absolutely mediocre. if you think she rivals established comedic actresses like amy poehler or tina fey who are very much still active and have numerous examples under each of their belts, you're a fucking idiot. allison brie can play "pretend dumb and accidentally slutty." you're serious vulnerable to seduction via low cut tops. allison brie has a cute voice, face and boobs that stick out. equally she shares the acting and comedic ability of more than 50% of holywood's leading women.
finally retorts should not simply be no you *enter prior posters insult here.* but I should expect you to be original when you think alison brie is a comedic genius and probably believe the wire, breaking bad and community to be the best shows ever.
