All things considered, I’m relieved that—spoiler alert!—Hayden Moss won Big Brother 12 last night. Of the three houseguests that were still in the house at the beginning of the finale, he was the most deserving. Lane’s background seemed to suggest that he didn’t really need the money, and Enzo just didn’t win much of anything all summer. And here’s a bonus: Hayden can use some of that cash money to buy himself a new haircut! Zing!
But really, folks. “All things considered” actually considers a lot of stuff. I’m considering the fact that none of the houseguests this summer made themselves easy to root for, like Jeff or Jordan did last season. On the contrary; Brendon and Rachel were painfully annoying, Matt lied about his wife being sick, and Enzo was all talk and no walk, just to name a few. No one had consistent charm or charisma—Britney's likability was borne out of necessity, Ragan cried too much to be a fan favorite, and, like I said before, Enzo just couldn't deliver under pressure. In fact, I'm sure that the vote for "favorite houseguest" was by no means a landslide like it was for Jeff last season.
I’m also considering the fact that most of the houseguests were ultimately gracious to each other when they were about to be evicted; think of Kathy, Lane, and Ragan when they were up on the block. What was up with all of that "no hard feelings" crap? This is a reality show! People were supposed to be at each other's throats! All the crazies, like Monet, and Andrew, got out of the game early enough to secure a boring second half of the season for the rest of the houseguests and for viewers at home, too.
And so a lackluster season of Big Brother comes to a close. I’m going back to my nap now.
