The best part of Christmas is how creepy it is. A fat old man breaks into your house, steals your food, and tries to woo your children with toys. We celebrate the virgin birth of an ancient mystic who later came back as a zombie (we celebrate that day too.) And now we have scary Mormon Fundamentalists singing us a Christmas carol.
Yes, the good folks at Big Love—HBO's terrific and soon-returning (January 10th!) series about polygamy in Utah—have put together a little holiday greeting from the denizens of Juniper Creek, the fictional compound where lots of the show's crazier stuff tends to go down. It's charming and cheery in an eerie sort of way, and apparently it's just one of many songs that can be found on an entire album of the compound folks singing Yuletide ditties. Enjoy it, and happy X-mas!
