Big Night alumni Tucci, Scott land pilot gigs

Stanley Tucci is set to costar in an untitled medical drama pilot at CBS.

The project centers on a rising-star brain surgeon (Mark Feuerstein) who is doing a fellowship under the guidance of a brilliant but unpredictable surgeon (Tucci).

In the original version of the pilot last development season, Tucci's role was played by Dylan McDermott.

Emmy-winner Tucci (Winchell) returns to theaters April 7 in the Bruce Willis thriller Lucky Number Slevin.

In other pilot-casting news:

Campbell Scott (who costarred with Tucci in the 1996 art-house hit Big Night) is in negotiations to join ABC's drama pilot Six Degrees, an ensemble soap about a group of strangers in New York.

Brittany Daniel (Dirty) is set to star opposite Jay Mohr in NBC's comedy pilot Community Service, about an arrogant New Yorker (Mohr) who goes to a small town to look for his ex-girlfriend (Daniel) and ends up doing community service there.

Andrew McCarthy (NBC's E-Ring) has joined CBS's drama pilot The Way, which centers on a powerful New England family that uses witchcraft to further its business enterprises. McCarthy will play one of the sons.

Marla Sokoloff (The Practice) has landed a lead in ABC's comedy pilot A Day in the Life, which chronicles a young couple's (Sokoloff, Josh Cooke) wedding day from the points of view of the various participants. Kurt Fuller and Miriam Shor have also been cast in the project.

Geoff Pierson has joined NBC's untitled comedy pilot about a New York guy (Kevin Brennan) whose younger brother moves in with him while attending NYU. Pierson, who costarred on Fox's 24 as President John Keeler, will play their father.

Peter Cambor has been cast in ABC's comedy pilot Notes From the Underbelly, which centers on a group of friends from the point of view of an expectant father. Cambor costars opposite Annette Bening and Alfred Molina in the Los Angeles production of The Cherry Orchard.
