Bitten's Third Season Will Be Its Last

Prepare yourselves for the end, Bitten fans. The Canadian werewolf drama, which airs on Syfy in the U.S. and Space in Canada, will end after Season 3, it was announced Wednesday by Bell Media, the parent company of Space. The series, which stars Laura Vandervoort (Smallville) as Elena Michaels, the lone female werewolf in existence, will return to fight its final battle on Space on Friday, February, 12 at 10pm. Syfy has not yet set a U.S. premiere date. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Syfy will not be acquiring the series for a fourth season.

Season 3 will pick up several months after the battle that ended Season 2 and will dive head first into "the theme of duty versus family, and the lengths one will go to keep both intact." As the Pack hunts for a dangerous group of Mutts, Elena will struggle with Jeremy (Grek Bryk) over his new leadership style. She'll also make a pretty surprising discovery about herself. Might it be what's previewed in the just-released sneak peek of the new season? Check it out below.

What do you think, Bitten fans? Are you sad to see the show go?

This series, showed a lot of potential, could of been as big as supernatural, there is so much that Kelly Armstrong has written this is only a taste of what there is, I am upset it's over, I do hope there will be more in the future, not only is there the bitten series but the "women of the other world series" and " men of the other world series" there really was so much that could of been done with this and it got axed, consider this one upset fan

I am sad to see it finish as it was one of the best wolf shows for years. The cast was great and the shows were refreshing because of how different it was. All I can say is I hope it comes back and with full length seasons. Fingers crossed every one.

The season finale was absolutely perfect.
If Bitten really have to go, it did it the right way.

I can't remember the last time I've seen a series with such a perfect ending. Kudos.

Yes, loved it. Very under-appreciated. Best werewolf centered drama I can remember. A little graphic and violent - wolves, what can you do? - but the acting, writing, production values, pretty damn good. :-)

Also, there anything else going on to help save the show? Example: sending the network toy wolves to show our support.

Really liked season 1. Ran pretty close to the books. Season 2 didn't get to see but from what I read seemed to venture away a bit. Season 3 doesn't seem like ANYTHING I have read in the series but maybe I am looking at it wrong. Had they followed the series including focusing on the other characters I think this would have made an amazing long term series. There are what, 13 books? I have one more in the series to read.

I really hate to loose this show but as you come to expect from SYFY nothing last long enough , why is that? why do all shows on syfy last no more than 3 seasons as though they think the fans get bored because it isn't the fans must be the writers??? maybe hire new writers SYFY and SPACE channels???

I'm really disappointed, seems like all the really good shows are only going from 1-3 seasons and it's very disappointing like star-crossed,Terra nova and beauty and the beast for examples all three great shows but just because some critics don't like them they go off the air I mean look at the show angel come critics didn't like angel but they kept that show on the air and it went to 10 seasons... come one now give the shows more of a chance then just 1-3 seasons.

I am. It was a good and at times awful show, but it was interesting for it's time. I look forward to S3 in the summer on SyFy.

Well no surprise. Loved first season. Season two was a complete mess and totally destroyed all the good parts in canon and revamped plot, characters, and fundamentals into crap.
They should have left the witches and sorcerers alone. Or given them their own show and not mix the two.

The show should have just kept to the werewolf plots. (I thought maybe add in Jaime since she gets heavily intertwined but otherwise is quite the loner, Buuuuuuuttttt she works closely with Eve soooo scratch that.)

I dont know what the hell were they thinking with what they did to the magic users. Is it their version of girl power? After all they changed it that Elena was the only female wolf because she was the only one who handled it ever, as opposed to bitten survival rates being incredible low but otherwise male inherited. So for season 2, they got rid of all the male magic users (essentially getting rid of half the cast from the books), totally removing the great plot of their corporate mafia family fighting, and made the witches all baby killers with a one male anomaly who was evil.

I never saw this show lasting very long because other than the 1st season it would have been tough to reproduce what happens in the books. After the first two books the story really moves from Elena to the witches. My guess is they are going to skip the next two books and move Elena to Toronto which is the 5th book (I think) which is the only other story that focuses on her.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about this nonsense. With Under the Dome and The Following both cancelled, Bitten is now the hands down leader of the trio of terrible shows I love to hate...well, for another year anyway.

While it's hard to understand, that even by Space's standards, this show got a third season, it safe to assume that it'll be every bit as debaculous as the previous two and go out on a "high" note.

Maybe I should have used smaller words so you could understand. I currently have a trio of shows I love to hate because they're so bad. Revolutions was, at one time, where Bitten is as the worst best show in my viewing rotation.

Once Upon a Time I gave up on 2 episodes into season 2. Thanks for the reminder, I'm sure there are a ton of shows that I favourited at one point and no longer watch or have long gone off the air.

Oh, and go f*ck yourself.

Season 1 was great, probably because it followed the books so closely. Season 2 wasn't anywhere near as great, probably because Elena was seperated. Season 2 was different from the books which was also probably a mistake. I hope season 3 ends the way the books did because it had a great ending.

It seems like all the good shows get cancelled and theres nothing new to replace them.

hmm, complete opposite feeling here. Thought Season 2 was incredible and didn't think much of 1. But then again I didn't read the books so looking at it just from the TV series.

It is good and different from what we usually get on TV from that genre.

I enjoyed both seasons and hopefully I'll enjoy the 3rd, as well!

"What do you think, Bitten fans? Are you sad to see the show go?"
LoLL... what kind of a question is that? What kind of a fan doesn't get sad when his/her favorite show comes to an end? LoLL... I hope that another network will step in and save the show for a second time!

I liked both seasons and haven't read the books. usually when you read a novel or book series the tv show or movie can never match up to expectations I do know that but it did need more excitement to keep it on television with the way the word likes television now days. oud love to find out more would rather see more on the tv series so sad to see it go but never know if will ever have time to read the books soooo very sad to see this as all my other favorites like "revolution". once upon a time and under the dome all which I love seems no tv series an survive anymore?? what is up with that??? :-(

Good for you but unfortunately, as a reader of the novels, I got to watch them assassinate the characters.
The villains on the show made no sense, the way every main character was romantically hooked up was cheesy and the witches were irritating beyond belief.

I never read any of the books but I liked the show well enough, season 2 was an improvement over season 1, but I won't miss it that much. Dragging it on would have been a bad idea.

I take it as sad, but having read the books, other than sort of a reoccurring thing, Elena stepped to the background of the Women of the Otherworld story, so I think I appreciate that they won't really be going to far afield (unlike some things, like True Blood where the books went crazy and you started to hate people, the books of this series stayed good for awhile, once it moved past Elena and Paige though, I don't know, I liked Eve and everything, but it started to feel like a different story). I do sort of wonder if the production company behind the show might be thinking of taking that sort of tact though. Like, sure, Bitten is over, but, well, Dime Store Magic might be a cool title for another like three season show.

I really liked Paige in the books and Dime Store Magic/Industrial Magic are probably my favorite books of the series. I would really like to see the whole thing recast as the actresses really didn't do the witch characters justice in season 2. I understand why they made some changes but that world would certainly lend itself to a long running series.

((For those that haven't read it ... wizard covens/businesses are set up across the United States and run things much like mafia families in the Godfather)).

I really would have liked to see the necromancer story with Jeremy too. The writer really seemed to have fun with that one though I doubt there would be enough material for 10 episodes.

Yeah I imagined Paige as sort of a sandy haired nerdy girl and then Lucas as a dark haired equally dorky type. Heck other than hair color they cast Savannah and played her the way I imagined. And like part of the fun part of when she lived with them was how absolutely rule abiding and good people Lucas and Paige were that it gave Savannah a good base.
