Blade series slices into Spike schedule

Spike TV has sunk its teeth into Blade, a series based on the Marvel Entertainment superhero.

Spike TV has ordered a total of 13 hours, including the previously announced two-hour pilot/original movie, with a premiere date set for June. The pickup marks the first scripted series for the cable network.

Blade, a half-man, half-vampire who fights a shadowy underworld of vampires that want to destroy the human race, was depicted by Wesley Snipes in a feature film trilogy.

Spike TV's version stars Kirk "Sticky" Jones in the leading role, while Nelson Lee, Jill Wagner, Neil Jackson, and Jessica Gower round out the cast.

Sticky brought justice to his role in "Over There" maybe he can pull this off. Hope it works.

Nice, glad to see sci-fantasy getting it's action on again. Plus "Sticky" was pretty good in Over There, hope he can carry this off too.

Well I hope it is better than the last 2 movies. Ryan Reynolds did do a good job in that movie. I will be sure to tune in to see how it goes.

Sticky Fingaz is actually a pretty decent actor, despite his stint in that weak Steven Bochco series on the FX network. I think the show will probably swim if it sticks to the franchise's roots; but I don't even know who's filling out the supporting cast so it's too soon to say if it's going to work out...

No. I don't think he'll be a good Blade. I've seen all three movies and he probably won't be a good Blade. He's.....Just not Weslety Snipes. Maybe I'm bias, but I don't like this guy.

I am so glad spike has picked up this series of stories. Now if only someone would go into production on a series based on Green Lantern I could be completely happy.
