Buffy the Vampire Slayer without Joss Whedon? Can anyone come up with a worse idea? Fans of Whedon are arming with stakes and crossbows as Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband Kaz Kuzui propose a reboot of the Buffy franchise, without the input or participation of Whedon.
As reported by Michael Ausiello, "I hope it's cool" was Whedon's only public comment about the announcement. Tim Minear, Whedon's co-executive producer for Firefly and Angel, simply posted "Unthinkable" on Whedonesque.com.
Fran Rubel Kuzui, who directed the original, sophomoric Buffy movie, retains ownership rights to the Buffy name, along with her husband. Together with their partners, Vertigo Entertainment, the couple hopes to capitalize on the renewed interest in vampires, and the success of the latest Star Trek reboot. Read more
