Boardwalk Empire and Treme Have Premiere Dates

HBO's year-round quest to take over your life (and especially your Sunday nights) continues this September, as the pay-cable network today scribbled on its calendar and chose the return dates for Boardwalk Empire and Treme.

The third season of Boardwalk Empire will premiere Sunday, September 16 at 9pm. HBO has ordered 12 episodes for the period drama set in Prohibition-era Atlantic City. Tune in to watch Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) get his illegal drink on while killing a few people between swigs.

The third season of Treme, from David Simon (creator of The Wire), will march on starting Sunday, September 23 at 10pm. HBO has ordered 10 episodes of the New Orleans-based drama that examines the lives of musicians after Hurricane Katrina. Wear something dance-friendly, because the show features some of the best music on television.

Two good shows.

I wonder how Boardwalk Empire will be with the loss of one of the main characters storyline.

I was a bit shocked that they got rid of him last season.

Can't wait for the return of these two fine shows, and season 3 of Boardwalk Empire especially. Season 2 was, in my opinion, more interesting than the first and had a better tempo and plot. I almost wish it was september already, I've only got Breaking Bad coming up next week and currently catching up on Person of Interest (which is a pretty decent show btw). It's a slow summer for good tv, but it kinda always is.

Damn.... what's with Sunday? Is there anything worth watching that ISN'T on Sunday? Thank god Longmire, Continuum, and Falling Skies will probably be off-season by then.

I watch Treme and its a wonderful show. Being a musician, I empathize with a lot of characters. And its New Orleans. And Steve Zahn and Wendell Pierce make that show.

Boardwalk Empire Season 2 was fantastic. If you stopped watching after Season 1 because it was kinda slow and a bit confusing, go back and continue the story. So worth it.

Surprised Treme is still airing. I dont know anyone who watches this show.

Treme has a different structure than most of what we see on tv. It's modelled a lot more like real life, instead of using the regular structure where every episode is an arc with a conclusion or a cliffhanger. So it's a niche show that not many people will really appreciate. The Wire used a similar structure, but incorporated a lot of crime and police elements which made it more exciting for a certain audience. For Treme, it's the music, the characters and the reality of the emotion and events that make the show worthwhile for fans. But please, don't say it's God awful, there's definitely a story and a lot of character development. It might just not be your cup of tea, which is fine :)
